I know I’m a bit late with this review, but I like to put thought into my work and didn’t wanna half-ass it.

I went into the theatre with low expectations. I didn’t expect much from this movie, besides Nicholas Hoult and some CGI giants. While I’ll say that was the basis, I actually did enjoy this movie.

The plot was pretty generic. But it worked. It basically told the story of a teenage Jack, who is sold 3 magic beans by a priest in exchange for his horse. Then theres some evil guy with really cool facial hair who wants to take over the kingdom. So the princess, being the damsel in distress that we expected, runs away with Jack to hide a magic crown that can control giants. Then it starts raining, Jack drops the beans, badabing badaboom. And now their both in giant land. From there on, its pretty much the fairy tale story.

The acting was pretty average, but definitely not bad. Ewan McGregor was pretty good, as he always is. Nicholas Hoult and Eleanor Tomlinson were pretty average. Stanley Tucci provided a good enough villain. Nothing that really wowed me, but nothing disappointing either.

The pacing did get a bit slow towards the end of the middle, but picked up towards the end.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. Definitely nothing spectacular, but at least a fun ride.
