20th Century Fox Taken 3 had a big Friday, as it grossed $14.7 million. That is the third best opening day figure for a film opening in the dreary month of January. Only 2008’s Cloverfield ($17.16 million) and 2012’s The Devil Inside ($16.8 million) did better. Audiences bestowed a 'B+' CinemaScore, which is the same score Taken 2 received in 2012. Based on Friday's numbers Taken should finish up the weekend with $38.6 million, which would give it the third best January opening weekend. Only Ride Along ($41.5 million) and 2008’s Cloverfield ($40.1 million) had better opening January weekends.

Selma will take second and Unbroken will finish in third. Peter Jackson's The Hobbit finale tumbles into the fourth spot aftering finishing in first the past three weekends. Disney's Into The Woods is right behind The Hobbit finale and could overtake it with strong performances Saturday and Sunday.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 added $3.78M to its domestic total this weekend. By the end of the weekend the film will be within $4 million of beating Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy for the honor of being the 2014 domestic box office champ.

RT fans: Hobbit 1 - 83%, Hobbit 2 - 86%, Hobbit 3 - 77%.
IMDb: Hobbit 1 - 8.0, Hobbit 2 - 8.0, Hobbit 3 - 7.7.

LOTR films were okay but they are not my cup of TV at all. The first Taken was cool, second one was a fun action flick. Will still watch the third one, am not expecting a masterpiece but hopefully it will be fun.......!!!

Taken 3 was TERRIBLE, but then so was Taken 2!

And it's so hilarious that Neeson is doing a new movie called "Run All Night" which is essentially Taken 4, only this time he's protecting his son.

Liam, you don't have to do every movie that drops in your agent's in box.

For f.uck's sake, man.

Taken 3 was the worst action film I've seen in years. Just atrocious.

Taken is only one movie. These horrid sequels don't exist.

Neeson was great once. Its a shame he will star in anything that provides a paycheck these days.

This deserves the title of worst Liam Neesons worst action film. When you rip off the villain twist from Die Hard 5 you know you're in some deep shit.

Do NOT give your opinion Taken 3 if you haven't seen it.
Basing your thoughts on any film because of critics or others make you a Grade A dipshit.

The last Hobbit film was definitely an improvement over the second. It could have been my favorite from the trilogy but that Alfrid guy had waaaay to much silly scenes. I swear, that guy hurt the movie. Other than that, it was great.
