Could we finally see The Micronauts on the big screen?

Just saw this browsing through IGN.com and got a little stoked. Hopefully someone else out there enjoyed the Marvel Comics and the toys I much as I did growing up! Its my first time at a fansite so, here we go...

He's ventured into the final frontier, but now J.J. Abrams is poised to enter the Microverse. The Wall Street Journal reports that the man who successfully rebooted Star Trek is "in discussions to produce a movie about Japanese toy line Micronauts, which Hasbro just acquired."

In addition to the toys, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, and Devil's Due Publishing have all published Micronauts comic book series over the past 30 years. The Marvel title lasted the longest, running from 1979-84. Fans looking forward to the Micronauts movie should bear in mind that some popular characters and terms (such as Microverse) are Marvel creations and, thus, can't be used in a non-Marvel movie.

Lol, yeah [frick]ing BORIGINS lol, i wish i didn't go and see it, FOX owes me a refund!! ; D

Damn, its real quite this Saturday init??

Anyways i dunno about you man, but i feel this movie could be a STAR WARS slash ANT-MAN epic type movie, hey with JJ ABRAMS at the helm, its going to be something special, pity we wont have no MARVEL bits in it, well unless THEY make a deal with MARVEL! (Which shouldn't be too hard?)

Never read the IMAGE comic, any good?

i loved these toys as a kid....just utter nostalgia here. my favorite was the blue space glider. i remember some people had the green one but it always came with a blue helmet which made it suck a little. i remember the head sculpt looked just like a young fonzie.is anyone else getting me here or am i just on full scale geek wheel spinning mode. of course you had to have baron karza...ultimate bad ass toy.

Okay where to start....
LEEE@ I was excited when I heard about the Image comics being released. It was the most unmemorable bunch of garbage I have ever read. I LOVED the Marvel version- Golden's artwork was incredible. Characters were great, crossing over with Fantastic Four and Man-Thing were a nice twist, and the story could get dark at times.
Image, was a very bastardized version of the original. Nothing positive stood out and they changed some characters (Bug was gone, Marionette is turned into Karza's daughter and eventually ends up with black armor of her own, I don't even think Force Commander was anywhere in it, Biotron worked for the bad guys.... okay, I could do this all night like I could with the Stallone Dredd movie). It wouldn't really be worth the read.
I hope Abrams works out something with Marvel. Even though I liked the Micronauts in our world, I enjoyed the Microverse twice as much. All the species' homeworlds, the whole idea of the Prometheus Pit. So LEEE, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Heck, I still have my original Baron Karza in full working order (have to check out my mom's attic to see if there are anymore intact).

Teabag@ Maybe a Micronauts movie could make you a fan :)

SYNESRTO @ Damn you know your MICRO stuff dude, kudos!

Yeah lets hope they do a deal with MARVEL, they'll be silly if they don't and its not like anyone else would have the MARVELS rights to MICRONAUTS, im not sure they even can lol?

Anyway it'll be a damn pity if they don't use 'em!!

Thanx for the heads up, i'll just keep to classic MICRONAUTS then an forget the IMAGE comics!! ; )

Hey if this makes it, an if JJ stays on board it should, i reckon we'll finally have talk of a ROM movie, how cool would that be?! Love ROM collected tons of that run, well ya never know lol.

PHINES @ Cool PICS man!!! I've seen all that stuff before, great stuff, all ive ever had was the silver headed guy in the bottom picture, well a few of them with different colored bodies!! Cool!

Ror@ Sorry for being such a noob. If I had seen Leee's post I would have just been there making comments on his. Like I said earlier, you guys are on the ball and that makes this site great. P.S. Great Costume Ror!

LEEE@ When the whole nostalgic feeling came over me with The Micronauts I was trying to think of other Marvel comics from back when I was a tyke- couldn't even think of Rom. That rocked! The Dire Wraiths, when they introduced other Spacenights battling Galactus and Terrax. Leee, thanks for helping me remember Rom :)

I also loved Marvel's Shogun Warriors and Godzilla- my first introduction to Dum Dum Dugan and S.H.I.E.L.D.

I could totally kick myself in the balls for not taking better care of those comics- but hey, I was probably eight and I know I read those things to pieces.

SYNESTRO @ Cool man, hey you just brought memories back for me, them Dire Wraiths!! Kudos!

Never read the GODZILLA but ive read a couple of SHOGUN comics! I think FF was in one of them! Damn i hear SHOGUN might be a movie too!!

My brother and I had micronauts as kids. The projectiles that you could shoot from their arms could quite literally put an eye out.

Ahhhhh....those were the days.
