Directors are one of the main keys in making a successful comic book film. Not only the script and actors need to be on a good standing basis but the director needs to direct the entire process from the ground up. Once you have that in place the director needs to adapt his style all together in the new environment he is being challenge in. A successful director knows the ropes and can easily read in between the lines no matter the struggles or hardships.

Marvel/DC in terms of characters has had an equal success rate with crafting the perfect director for their films. What my goals are for this editorial is to pair a director whether or not he has directed a comic book film before with another character or team for a film possibility in the future. Also even if the character or team currently has an ongoing series now there is always the chance of a reboot coming near or a potential sequel which could switch directors. Now with that in mind I shall begin my list with a bang starting at number 9.

9. Tim Burton (Frankenweenie) - Consideration: Aquaman

Tim Burton is the master of making normal things seem creepy and scary which is why he would be perfectly suited in the world of Aquaman. Imagine a dark Tim Burton styled Atlantis and how reinvented his enemies would be (Evil Shark Monsters?). Even a possibility of Johnny Depp being considered for Aquaman how amazing would that be. Essentials needed to keep relevance to the character would first importantly be his deep blue camouflage costume. Second would be to base the entire plot around the game Aquaman Battle for Atlantis as it was a true essential for the character. Tim Burton would definitely be able to emulate the purpose of this hero. He also did direct a Batman films important to note.

8. Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil Series) – Consideration: Blade

Paul W.S. Anderson is known for the acclaimed video game adaptation series Resident Evil. Blade’s own last film appearance being in 2004 directed by the talented David S. Goyer. Paul W.S. Anderson can bring a new level of ultra stylized action to Blade. Imagine the big slow motion vampire slashing CGI shots with ground breaking 3D effects. A wonderful cinematic backdrop of pure awesomeness. What about a female Blade played by Milla Jovovich? The possibilities would be endless. No story needed at all just glorious scenes of non stop action.

7. Adam McKay (Anchorman) – Consideration: Black Panther

He is an excellent director for comedy films which is the perfect tone for Black Panther. Add Will Ferrell in the lead role as the Black Panther himself and already an instant winning formula that is sure to please all the fans. Black Panther doesn't need to be a serious hero with messages about society that is simply boring. Adam McKay is also successfully experienced with action as displayed in the film The Other Guys. Marvel needs to gear up soon for a Black Panther film and McKay is a sure hit in the book.

6. Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained) – Consideration: The Incredible Hulk

Now hold on your seats and imagine this, ultra violent version of The Hulk directed by Quentin Tarantino. Now take a look at the picture above with the Hulk using a giant gun, that is the Tarantino style version of the Hulk. Marvel, let him direct a Hulk solo film please.

_______________________________________________________________

5. Rob Minkoff (Mr.Peabody & Sherman) – Consideration: Batman

With the Batman vs Superman film underway a Batman solo film is definitely no doubt coming also. One thing for sure the new Batman film would need to be different in order to be successful. Who better to take it on than Rob Minkoff who also had a hand in the making of Stuart Little and even the Eddie Murphy comedy The Haunted Mansion. I believe Batman being a recognizable hero needs a more friendly lesser genre suited film. Think of a Batman reboot in tone of Adam West styled Batman but less violent and more campy comedy. A main complaint now from DC fans is Batman is getting way too serious and dark. Even the violence portrayed in The Dark Knight Rises was unbelievable. Rob Minkoff could bring the fun back in Batman once again which is what we need.

_______________________________________________________________

4. Rob Cohen (The Fast and Furious) – Consideration: Spider-Man

Yes Spider-Man is already currently being made with Marc Webb at the helm but that being said there is always a possibility he wouldn't come back for a sequel. That being said Rob Cohen would make an excellent replacement and would be perfect for the Spider-Man universe. Unlike Marc Webb, Rob Cohen is an experienced action director. He started the critically acclaimed Fast and Furious franchise and even directed the sequel to the popular franchise The Mummy. Cohen's style being fast paced and on high energy levels would suit the speed and fights needed for a Spider-Man film. There doesn't need to be a huge focus on the story or drama at all.

_______________________________________________________________

3. Simon West (Expendables 2) – Consideration: The Flash

When I was watching Expendables 2 I was saying this guy would be perfect for a superhero project. I also thought, The Flash. Yes there are clear similarities and tributes present in Expendables 2 which would definitely contribute to a Flash film. Such as the straight forward plot and focus on action. The every few one liners and cheesy moments which reminds you of a great time hanging out with a friend. Including the amazing special effects displayed in Expendables 2 that I have no idea how the Academy Awards didn't nominate this film for. Then I continued watching Expendables 2 and found the perfect casting for The Flash, none other than Jet Li. A martial arts speedster who fights crime wouldn't that be amazing?

_______________________________________________________________

2. Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) – Consideration: Avengers 3

Joss Whedon fired up 2012 with one of the biggest superhero assembles ever assembled on the screen, The Avengers. Soon to continue his further success down the line with Avengers 2. Now we know his contract says Avengers 3 right but chances are it may not happen. So then Marvel would have to frantically search for a successor, when there is already one in our presence. Bryan Singer who started Marvel's first theatrical team ensemble X-Men which Joss Whedon also did contribute to. Singer has never made one bad film. With the current success he has with X-Men and a new sequel coming in 2014 Avengers would be a perfect pairing for him as this would be familiar grounds. It will also put an end to the bitter hatred many Marvel fans have towards him for reasons I don't understand. Singer is a brilliant director with an excellent method of talent.

_______________________________________________________________

1. Paul Greengrass (Bourne) – Consideration: Justice League

Shaky camera action has become a huge ongoing trend in Hollywood and no man has perfected it better than Paul Greengrass. With his major hits such as the Bourne franchise and recently Captain Phillips he definitely needs a turn in the comic book genre. Which is where Justice League comes in. His shaky camera work would be a perfect formula in Justice League, non stop action and special effects. It would be a movie where you feel you are in the action itself and you feel the motion going at breath taking speeds of light. A true superhero ensemble roller coaster ride of never ending nausea. That is the type of experience needed for Justice League to separate itself from current films and Paul Greengrass is definitely the man for the job.

Honorable Mentions List

M. Night Shyamalan (The Last Airbender) - Doctor Strange

Colin Strause & Greg Strause (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem) - Avengers 3 (Second Choice)

Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider) - Shazam

Roland Emmerich (2012) - Lobo

Thank you everyone for reading my considerations. Without directors and the success of comic book films today where would we be in society? It's an amazing thought to think of.

Don't know if you're being serious or not but No... Just No. Besides most of the big name directors that everyone wants have too big of an ego to direct a CBM.

What a stupid, waste of a list. Obviously you were looking to parody mine, of course, seeing as how you wrote it right after I posted mine. Get some real directors next time, do your research if you wanna make a list like this.

If any of these directors that you've listed are announced to be directing these upcoming movies, I will have given up on this genre as a whole entirely. Your choices are beyond atrocious. Plus, what the hell's the point of seeing a picture and footage of the director? You're not going to be seeing them on the big-screen anyway, so what's the point? They sure aren't supermodels, so I don't care to look at these dudes, all I wanna know is their filmography, and that's that. "My list looks 100% crisp and better", I think you give yourself too much credit, in fact, I think that I'm giving you too much credit as well for taking the time in writing this out.

I am sorry for this, but I completely disagree with you. Some of your directors on this list are good, but I think you put the good directors in the wrong movies. I think you put bad directors in the worst choices possible by trapping their talents in something that don't fit. The Black Panther movie should never be a comedy and M. Night Shyamalan and Wes Anderson should never touch a comic book movie because they make mindless films that just don't fit into the world of comic book movies right now. Tarantino is a good director, but I think you put him in the wrong movie. I think that he should actually do the Blade film for his skill with action and for the matter Blades. I just think that this list seems to be thinking about the wrong aspects of who characters are and what some of the directors are actually good at directing.
