While waiting for the official unveiling of the Infinity Gauntlet movie prop at the Marvel Comic Con booth last Sunday, I managed to catch up with comic author Dan Slott; who is most recently known as the writer for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Mighty Avengers:

The Mighty Avengers really sparked my interest in the team again after Civil War; I'd been waiting for a solid Hank Pym story line for a long time. Why did you decide to make Hank the focus of the new team?

"When I took over [on The Mighty Avengers] the only definite characters I had to work with were Hank and Jocasta. All these other main Avengers characters were tied up with other series.. We had to really scrap around to see who we could use, but it was always going to be Hank at the forefront."

Would you consider that storyline Hank's true reintegration in the Marvel U and redemption?

"I didn't want to ignore Hank's past and all his mistakes, that's been done before. I wanted him to face the problems he caused, accept them, and move on. His internal struggle would come full circle and he'd find his place in the world."

Do you believe Hank would translate well on screen for either The Avengers or a solo film?

"Absolutely. He's an every man, at least that's what he represents. He pushes himself to the extreme, makes mistakes, feels embarrassed, falls in love, gets his ass kicked.. His personality evolves and matures. I would really love to see someone bring those qualities to the character on film."

i'd rather see giant man than ant-man.
maybe you could do this first avengers movie have ant -man.
then at the end of the avengers he bcomes giant man, drinking a formula to try & cure himself & it goes wrong & he becomes GIANT-MAN.
setting stage for giant man in avengers 2.

Fillion would definitely be ideal for such a role IMO. Great work, Multi ;)

If Nathan Fillion can't play Ant-Man, then my second choice would be Simon Pegg.

With Edgar Wright directing and Simon Pegg starring, it couldn't go wrong.

Slott is an amazing writer (and I'm overjoyed that he's going to be writing Amazing Spider-Man on his own from now on) but I really didnt enjoy his work on The Mighty Avengers...he's the best Spidey writer since JMS though IMO! :)

Please put Hand and Jan in Avengers. It works with classic fans, ultimate fans, and casual fans won't need much explanation of either their characters or their powers.

Agreed I would love to see a Hank Pym movie I would go insane with happiness. Hank Pym is one of my favorite characters in all of the comic book world. He has always been real and relatable in that he was always messing up and dealt with many issues such as his wife dying and he was a super-hero that had major insecurities. I would also love to see the Yellow Jacket costume in real life.

And while were on the topic of B-list super hero movies can there please be an Iron Fist movie, i think it would translate very well especially Brubaker's run. Also i would love a Booster Gold movie. Many of these b list super heroes I think are going to start to be done more, not only because hollywood is going to run out of A-list heros but because they offer a new take on the super hero and really show different perspectives on what it is to be a super hero and the many different motivations someone can have. This would help the super hero genre not become stale and a cliché, which will eventually threaten to end the popularity of these movies.

If you put Giant Man in a movie there's no way he could be as tall as a downtown skyscraper and I think that's the problem. I can see maybe up to 15 maybe 20 feet max.
