It is being reported at Deadline that Joaquin Phoenix is looking to come out of "retirement" to co-star in the upcoming Timur Bekmambetov-directed big screen version of Seth Grahame-Smith's
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Joaquin Phoenix is the front-runner to play the mentor who teaches the 16th President how to kill bloodsuckers in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for 20th Century Fox. Phoenix has met on the project and I'm told that it's his if he wants it.
The role would be Henry, a mythical, ageless character who guides the young Lincoln, turning him into an axe-wielding vampire killer.
If this casting indeed comes to fruition, it could be a promising sign for the talent, yet eclectic actor. If you'll remember a while back, Phoenix took a hiatus to become a "rapper," drastically changing his looks and his demeanor, causing many to question his sanity. He went on to star in the "mock-umentary, "
I'm Still Here which was directed by Casey Affleck. No doubt Phoenix would be a great addition to the cast, as he has no shortage of talent and his past roles have proven that.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is being directed by Timur Bekmambetov and will be produced by Tim Burton. Joaquin Phoenix would be joining the recently announced Benjamin Walker should he accept.
