Mortal Kombat movie reboot ideas and cast

What if there was a Mortal Kombat that was like Pacific Rim and Hunger Games? What if Guillermo del Toro was doing the movie with the guy who did The Raid? What if WB decided it's time for a new Mortal Kombat movie? Well here are my ideas for a Mortal Kombat reboot...

It’s time for some Mortal Kombat reboot ideas.
So I’m little inspired by the “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” show, and I agree that MK should be darker and more realistic.
But I want my MK reboot to have some elements from Pacific Rim and Hunger Games.

Now I think that Gareth Evans should make the movie, his work on The Raid movies was amazing, and the fights we see in The Raid movies are the type of fights I want to see in my MK movie, only with fireballs and all of that.
I also want Guillermo del Toro to write the script and be the producer of the movie. I think that this team up would do only great things to a Mortal Kombat movie.

As far as the story, it will be a reimagined version of the MK stories. The first part of the movie (the first hour or so) will be the set up for the characters (like in the Hunger Games), and then the 2nd part of the movie (an hour and a half) will be all about the MK tournament.

But in won’t be a “tournament”, all the fighters will be teleported to the MK dimension, where the protectors of Earth will fight against the Outworld Invaders. They will fight until one side will kill all the fighter of the other side. If the invaders win, Earthrealm becomes part of Shao Kahn’s empire. If the protectors win, Earth is safe.

Years ago, Shao Kahn started to conquer worlds. Because of the rules of the Gods, Kahn can’t just conquer worlds, and because of this, we have the “Mortal Kombat”.
For years Kahns warriors had been winning the MK for him, while Raiden tries to save the other worlds.

Few years ago, Shao Kahn sends his army for the MK on Sub-Zero’s world. Sub-Zero is shocked to find out that his old friend, Scorpion (who was killed a year ago) is among the invaders. Scorpion kills Sub-Zero, and the world falls to Shao Kahn.
Sub-Zero’s younger brother (he didn’t fight in the MK at that time) sees his brother’s death by Scorpion, and he becomes the new Sub-Zero, and he wants revenge.

Years later, Raiden meets Sub-Zero, and he asks him to fight for Earthrealm in the next MK. We then meet few of the other characters. The main hero of the movie is Sub-Zero, but Liu Kang is also there, as the main protector of Earth.

As I wrote, the first hour of the movie will show us the characters and their stories. The movie will explore the relationship of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but other MK characters will also shine.
When the Mortal Kombat begins, we will start getting the fights, all over the place.

I think a lot of your choices for the cast would work. I know I would pay to see this. WB could make a cool movie if they were to make a new MK film. I just don't see WB making one soon. I do see though MS making a Killer Instinct one with Machima.

This is perfection.

First off Sub-Zero is Chinese, it would be ridiculous to cast Sebastian Shan as someone named BI-HAN or KUAI LIANG. Secondly am I the only one who sees how problematic it would be to have Asian characters like Lui Kang worshiping a white guy?.
