Source: Hutchinson, KS Should Be Named "Smallville"

Hutchinson, KS has been proclaimed by city officials as Smallville, KS.  This is the 2nd year of the proclamation, but now the town has a festival and Comic Con to back it up.  On the Facebook page "Hutchinson, KS Should Be Named Smallville," founders of the endevour have pointed out all the similarities that Hutchinson and Smallville share, from the TV series, movies, and even the comics.

Several of the similiarities include:

  • Smallville has a population of 45,001 (TV series) and Hutchinson has a population of 42,000.
  • Smallville is stated in the comics as lying on the Arkansas (pronounced Ar-Kansas) river.  Hutchinson is the only town/city along the river that has around that population.
  • In the comics, a road sign one time pointed out the milage from Salina-Smallville as being 112 miles.  The milage from Salina-Hutchinson is 114 miles.
  • In "Man of Steel" there is a location that is pretty much an exact duplicate of a location in Hutchinson.
These are only a few of the similarities pointed out and outlined on the Facebook page.  I know many of you on here hated the TV series, but all the evidence pointed out from all the different sources (TV, Film and comics) is pretty difficult to ignore.  You can check out all the information at the link below.

Hutchinson is also hosting the first annual Smallville Comic Con this weekend.  Martian Manhunter (Phil Morris) and Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) will be in attendance.

As a proud citizen of Smallville, I thought that you all would be interested in hearing about this.

Someplace in Kansas needs to claim itself "Smallville". So...Hutchinson it is!

Isn't there a town called Metropolis somewhere?...it should be a huge city to claim it but I like the idea of a town using Superman to help promote itself & generate tourism.

Absolute Justice is by far one of the best episodes of Smallville. I'm a huge Superman/Smallville fanboy myself.

In Mexico, they give you two shots of Tequila before they take that sucker out (to dull the pain).

Afterwards, you get a box of Corona. Same concept as kid getting a lolly after shot.

Lol they should film scenes in all of the surrounding cities of Hutchinson for Smallville in the movies, but never in that town. That'd be freaking hilarious!
