The "ABC's" of Super Heroes

The "ABC's" of Super Heroes

For those members of CBM that have little geeks in the family, I have com across the perfect teaching tool if they are just starting out. Or for those of us geeks who refuse to grow up, it would make a great addition to your collection

We all have our own little collection of knick-knacks, toys, posters and lunch boxes that we have compiled over the years, you wouldn't be a true geek without one, right? I came across this poster which highlights some of Marvel's and DC's greatest superheroes, done up in the style of....the alphabet! This is a great way to teach your little geeks the basics but is also a nice addition to any poster collections that I know some of you have.

This poster is done by Fabian Gzlez, who is a graphic designer and part time illustrator, prides himself on making art humorous and unique, all the while using great talent to create his work. This piece is for sale if you are interested via his website, so be sure to take a look and support the arts! He's also got some other super hero art as well as some Star Wars pieces. (Society6)

Compared to many people on CBM, I'm a relative newbie to the comic book world. I've just recently (within the last 10 years or so) started reading comics. However, I've been a fan of comic book characters nearly all my life, thanks to cartoons like the X-Men Series and Batman. Been downhill ever since.

I am an avid movie watcher and run my own movie website,(GeekBoyMovieNews) which covers a wide variety of movies, books and television news. There is nothing better to me than to sit back and a enjoy a good movie, or a crappy one for a good laugh.

While you may not see a lot of articles submitted by me, I've been an active user for close to three years here on CBM and I enjoy every minute on here. We have the best online community on the net her at CBM.com.

I've been lucky enough to climb the ranks here at CBM and the almighty Galactus has chosen me to act as one of his Heralds (Jr. Editor). So if you ever need suggestions or help on articles, I am more than happy to help out; you can find me in the CBM chat quite often. I also assist Big G in his "Beat Galactus Quizzes," so if you feel like you have a good question for the next quiz or suggestions on making them work better and more smoothly, feel free to drop me a line.

I look forward to talking and discussing comic books and their movies with all of you on the site!

R is Rorschach, I might get stick for this, but I have no idea who J is! It should be Joker anyway:)

ecksmanfan - 4/15/2011, 10:13 AM
Yes I would, because I don't know who "J" is either! Being that "L" is from Thundercats, it's a possibility that "J" could be a non-mainstream character. I tried to find a listing of the characters, but wasn't able to do so.

@Ror- your'e right, it should be Joker.

Is "J" Justice (marvel boy)?

Man, I feel like a failure as a fan-boy. There are several I don't get. "V" is Vision, right? Who are "U" and "Y"?

@spectre88, I also thought Z was Zatanna.
I agree,I think J should have been someone beside Justice.Someone like The Joker, Juggernaut, or J. Jonah Jameson. But I guess it's art so they can do what ever they want.

Chewtoy - 4/15/2011, 10:39 AM
The Joker, Juggernaut and Jameson aren't heroes, so I guess that's why they went with Justice.

Man, I'm nearly 40 and I have no idea what "Mighty Man and Yukk" is...

ablee337 - 4/15/2011, 10:40 AM
Y the last man would have been a better choice, but maybe he's not considered a superhero.

@Tea - Tea, I'm right there with you man. My three year old wanted a Superhero birthday instead of a Pony birthday. Isn't being a dad great sometimes? Hulk is one of her favorites too, but Spider-Man is slipping into the top spot.
ablee337
ablee337 - 4/15/2011, 10:47 AM
J should have been Jonah Hex, he's better known now cause of that crappy movie.
Fogs

@Chewtoy I barely remember that one (I'm 31). In Brazil his name was “Yogui", not Yukk. I swear I thought of it because of the house but dismissed the idea immediatelly (and wouldn't find it anyway).
bixby4u
bixby4u - 4/15/2011, 10:47 AM
@Tea, That's a proud moment.
@chewtoy,I guess you're right, the rest ofthem are heroes and not just characters. I've never liked Justice. i guess Jubilee or Jonah Hex would have been options also.

bixby4u - 4/15/2011, 10:58 AM
@ELgUaSoN, I think they are going with only heroes.

Part of me think Y should have been Yellow Jacket, but I do like the fact that it's someone that obscure. Makes me feel like I need to do some more homework.
