Any movie buff will tell you that box office success doesn't equate to a quality film. Case in point, two of the most profitable studio pictures of 2009 were Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It's obvious now that displeased fans of the once promising films weren't alone in their negative criticisms, both films were 'honored' at last nights Razzie Awards.

The Golden Raspberry Awards (aka, Razzies) are traditionally awarded the night before the Academy Awards. Their purpose is to spotlight the year's Worst Achievements in Film. Though there was some decent competition, Transformers and the All American International Hero pulled through in the end:






A few notable comic book movie related Razzie winners of years past have been Halle Berry (Worst Actress - Catwoman), Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (Worst Prequel, Sequel, Remake Or Rip-Off) and Hayden Christensen (Worst Supporting Actor - Star Wars III).

Very well earned awards. Though I wish Channing Tatum had won Worst Actor. He was the reason that movie sucked.

Disagree, TRANSFORMERS 2 was twice the movie BORIGINS was, i enjoyed ROTF!!!

Cept the [frick]ing mom of course lol!

Oh come on, the movie would have sucked even if there hadn't been a strike. If the strike was a legitimate reason then you'd see a lot more sucky movies.

ROTF..Was not that bad. I thought is was WATCHABLE.
megan fox was horrible..as usual

Sieanna Millar is HOT..But that doesn't
excuse a BAD MOVIE..(same goes with M. Fox)

Miller was the only one good in that movie, it was the rest and the writing/directing that sucked. And on the grand scale of things TF2 was not terrible, it did not have Tom Green in it.

I liked both movies and Miller was dead sexy in GI JOE and her performance wasnt razzie bad like others said i think tatum and the waynes brother really dragged the movie down.

There were definitely much worse movies out there that deserved these awards. I think Uwe Boll directed a couple of flicks this yeah. I don't think Michael Bay deserves worse director. If anything, they should rename that one as the Uwe Boll award. I for one liked ROTF and Wolverine, and GI Joe, was at least a one watch movie. The Razzies are a joke. They are about as useless as the Oscars. The People's Choice awards are where it's at, considering they are determined by the people who actually pay money to see movies and fuel the movies to do good or bad.

transformers 2 i thought was alright in places the special effects & the battle scenes where excellent,i admit their is alot of crap in it,for exampole autobot heavan,when his mum eats the hash cakes,the so called comedy duo autobots.
g.i joe highlights were scarlett,the baroness & snake eyes vs storm shadow fight.
x-men origins wolverine was worse than tranformers 2.

The thing is though, when Uwe Boll sucks it's expected. He has a very limited budget, and it would be surprising if he could make a decent movie. Bay has millions, there's no reason why his movies should suck, with his budget he could hire the best writers and directors alive and create amazing epics. Instead he makes two hour toy commercials that appeal to the lowest common denominator, and he admits to it.
That's why he's the worst, because with the money he has he could be the best.

Two shitty movies, the difference between them is that most people expected trans 2 to be great after pt 1 and it was just awful in almost every way.

I doubt too many people were expecting GIJoe to even be a good movie and it was still a billion times more fun than trans 2.

@thwhtGuardian About Uwe Boll budget is no excuse for the crap he makes its a matter of directing skill. That dumb@$$ can take an academy award winning actor and make them look to have the acting skills of a 70's porn star. I just hate Uwe Boll and cant understand why anyone would allow him near anything they created.

Meh, his style isn't what is jarring about his movies though. His movies have decent cinematography. They're sucky because they're meant to be. He's a B-movie director, he has crappy scripts, b-list actors, and low budgets. He fully meets all expectations of him. They're low expectations, but he fulfills them.

Bay's movies do not meet expectations. With the budget he has he could be making amazing movies. But he doesn't.
And the reason I think Transformers 2 is worse than GI Joe is because GI Joe was bad because of lack luster actors, a dumb script and poor special effects. Transformers had these things too, but it also had idiotic humor that the director forced into the movie. Bay made that movie bad because he had a "vision" of what people wanted, and that vision was leg humping and jive talking bots. He sabotaged his own film with out even knowing it. Summers just seems to be a bad movie director with Joe, and say what you want to about how bad Joe was but at least it didn't have any moments that just didn't belong there.

In my opinion, Gi Joe wasn't going bad until the Cobra's secret base sequence, when the script goes to hell and all that; so the average level was quite bad.

@thwhtGuardian Ben Kingsley is an Academy Award winning Best Actor I would not call him a B movie actor and he was horrible like everyone else in BloodRayne. And In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale seemed like a good story and had a some what decent cast but their acting sucked and was much, much worse then their acting in other films. Sure the FX sucked @$$ but it was defiantly the horrible directing that made the film so bad. I dont think that the creators of those properties wanted their film versions to be so horrendous.
