Hello CBMers!!!

Some big casting news going on with Man of Steel 2 lately. And what can these choices perhaps tell us about the story?

So, Jesse Eisenberg is going to be Alexander Luthor? Lets see what he's going to do. It seems that the casting of Jesse indicates we'll be getting a younger Luthor, which I find rather perplexing. In Man of Steel there are signs that LexCorps(?) is a rather large corporation, they had trucks in Smallville and several storied high buildings in the heart of Metropolis. Seems like this company is doing rather well and has strong roots, so we might be able to infer that LexCorps is a family business and we may see his father in some form. This would also lend to perhaps, Lex and Clark being friends in the beginning of their relationship; with Lex's father being the greater antagonist.

Overlooked in the recent casting is the inclusion of Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Alfred's here? Hmm, at one point I thought they were going for an older retired Bruce. Which made me ask why Alfred would be around at all. Makes sense as Alfred is an integral part of Batman's world, but what other Bat characters will be popping up? With this young Lex, will it take the threat of an old deadly Bat enemy to force Bruce back into action? I certainly hope so, and my choice is definitely Joker. Lex and Joker often seem to come together whenever Batman and Superman do as well. Too much? Nah, they should go for broke over there at WB. Also, my choice to take on the Clown Prince of Crime? Jared Leto.

Regardless of how you feel about the casting choices, how do you feel about where the story may be heading?

Maybe Irons' Alfred is the Outsider, and Jesse's Lex is the reluctant hero one of Earth 3.

That would be a little to much

Maybe Lex's dad was killed during the attack so Lex now sees superman as a threat

More importantly what's the title of this movie in the first place?

Why would a billionaire like Lex become an allie of a crazy serial killer? Oh, right, the Joker is unpredictable so no one can stop him. The joker is only dangerous because you let him run around in the city doing whathever he wants. He's not powerful or intelligent he's just crazy. If you think of him as more than he really is than yes he will become that but if you don't want him to be like that than he wont. Do you really think that Cesar would ever work with Jack the Ripper?

@Praetorian - thank you, I forgot what the hell it was called. And now that you bring it up, it does seem kind of odd to use your first name to name a multimillion dollar company....seems like something a young guy soul do...

@Knightrider - good idea, great motivator for Lex's hatred of Superman, albeit it would be misplaced.

@Alphadog - Luthor could find some use for Joker, not really work with him rather use him.

if Bruce is semi retired, it seems odd that he would don the mask again to battle someone like Lex as Batman. However Bruce would probably just handle business in a courtroom with Lex, unless Lex provoked him, maybe with Joker

Good speculation. I think it would be more appropriate if Lex where to apprehend the crashed Kryptonian ship in Metropolis and based most of his technology from set ship. Also i think it would be better to show case more of Supermans villains ect. Bizarro, Parasite or Metallo.

Righting a fan screenplay for it now. Have to make a couple revisions to Luthor and Alfred's characters due to the casting.

It is Superman's appearance that will bring Batman out of retirement. As for Lex's age, it is possible that his father started the company, and then when Lex took over (either because his father died or because he stole the company from him) he changed the name from Luthercorp to Lexcorp. It's also possible that his dad named the company after Lex.

why does everyone seem to assume this batman is in retirement?
I know they said he's supposed to be a more expirienced batman, but people make it out to be like he's gonna be 50 years old and was out of the game for like 12 years.

batman will probably be around 37-38 years old in BvS
