Stewart Signs on to Direct "Priest"

Scott Charles Stewart has been ordained to direct "Priest," a horror Western that Michael De Luca and Stars Road Entertainment's Josh Donen are producing for Screen Gems. Mitchell Peck will also produce.

An adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book, the story is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cory Goodman ("The Brood") wrote the screenplay.

The boarding of Stewart blesses "Priest" with new life; the project almost came together a couple of years ago with Gerard Butler and Steven Strait under the direction of Andrew Douglas but fell apart.

Stewart, repped by Endeavor and Anonymous Content, is a former ILM staffer who, along with Stu Maschwitz and Jonathan Rothbart, co-founded special effects house the Orphanage. "Priest" sees him back under Screen Gems' wings, as he is making his directorial debut with the company's biblical apocalyptic thriller "Legion." Stewart also wrote the film.

This looks good, but I hope it is better than 30 Days of Night. That was the worse vampire movie ever. REALLY!

I will go as far to say the 1st Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie with Luke Perry was better than that!

As long as it doesn't resemble the feel of BloodRayne 2, I'm down.

"30 Days of Night", wasn't too bad, concept wise. The idea that vampires were actually vicious, bestial, predators and not the homoerotic Ann Rice type or more so the pretty faced, flamboyant seducers like in pretty much every other popular interpretation of the creatures was a good idea to stand out from the herd.

Worse vampire movie ever? Hardly, I mean I mentioned above "BloodRayne 2" (Natassia Malthe the only reason to watch it). Other movies I'd place before it would also include "BloodRayne", "Lost Boys: The Tribe", "Vampire in Brooklyn", "The Forsaken" and "Perfect Creature" would all take the title before "30 Days of Night" does.

But the absolute worse Vampire movie I've ever seen would have to be: "Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter".

It's Mystery Science Theater 3000 bad.

Vampire in Brooklyn, AWESOME! Wow really? Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter? That sounds like freakin' B-Movie awesomeness. Got to see that.

What about Dracula 3000? I know there was Dracula 2000, which had an interesting twist to the origin of the vampire deal. But they DID make a sequel...Oooo and what about this one Vampire movie, I forget what it is called. Everyone knows of vampires and they have created a "drink" for them, it's like artificial flesh (not blood, which was odd) and they drink it from these bottles with bendy straws that split into 2 straws, one for each tooth, so ya know, they could suck it up through their teeth like a syringe. It had a western feel too it, and it had to be early to mid 90's, but I can't remember what it's called. I'll have to look it up.

AND NO, i'm not getting confused with TruBlood with the whole drink thing. This wasn't blood, it was "flesh flavored juice" or some crap...

I sort of separate Dracula films and vampire films. I know they're in the same neighborhood but they're different houses, at least to me.

Drinking flesh juice? I don't think I've seen that one. Sounds like a stinker though.

It was TERRIBLE i'm still trying to figure out what the heck it was. May have been a made for TV deal, or HBO or something. But, either way it was god awful.

I'm actually watching True Blood right now, It's up to episode 12 and can be found here -

I think it's a pretty decent show but not what I normally expect from HBO after watching shows like Generation Kill and The Wire.
The drink is synthetic blood not flesh juice
its something created by the Japanese because True Blood is set in a world where vampires are 'out of the coffin'
and fighting for vampire rights.

yeah okay that does sound pretty stupid, but its been decent enough so far for me to keep watching.
