THE CLAW GOES HOLLYWOOD: The Claw at USF, the University of South Florida's newly renovated golf course, apparently looks good enough to be in the movies. Marvel Studios' ``The Punisher,'' a movie that will star Thomas James, John Travolta and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, will shoot some scenes at the golf course.

The production work will take place some time next month while the course is closed to the public.

The Claw at USF recently has undergone a $1 million renovation. Ten greens were rebuilt and increased in size, a new irrigation system was added, along with new sand in the bunkers and other additions to improve the quality of the course.

The course was reopened for play Aug. 30 but is still undergoing a grow-in period. Special rates are in effect until the Grand Re-Opening, which is scheduled for Sept. 29, when all work is expected to be complete.
