Epic First Trailer For THE DARK TOWER Says That In A World Of Superheroes, There's Only One Gunslinger

Regardless of whether you're a fan of the Stephen King novels, The Dark Tower is definitely looking like a movie which will be well worth your time this August. After a handful of teasers and posters yesterday, Sony Pictures has finally released the full thing (a lot earlier than expected) and it's packed full of amazing visuals and some really cool action shots as Idris Elba's Gunslinger races into action.

It's clear that this movie won't be a direct adaptation of the books, but a lot of the key elements are there. Of course, for fans of those, it's already been confirmed that this is a sequel of sorts, so it doesn't really matter that things have been altered and shaken up a little for regular moviegoers.

It's looking good, anyway, and this trailer debut is hopefully a sign that Sony will start pushing The Dark Tower hard over the next few months. Should it succeed at the box office, we'll be getting a fair few sequels and even a television series, but that all boils down to whether or not there's interest!

What do you guys think of this first trailer for The Dark Tower? Let us know that in the usual place.

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Looks interesting and great to see Idris do an action role, also a great costume for Roland. Could potentially join other characters with awesome movie costumes.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - If you were familiar with the series then this wouldn't look sick. It would make you sick.

@SimplyAz - Would've liked them to try another pass at some of the transitions, but as a fun exercise, that was pretty inspired in places.

@RasAlGhul - looks to be headed that way. Looks dull, generic and very loosely based on the real gunslinger's story. A torrent for me.

@AngryBillCipher - Yeah, I agree. I think the poor promotion of this movie might cause Sony to lose more money just like their past couple of movie flops like Smurfs and Life forced them to lose $720M and Marvel Marvel may have to buy Spider-Man fully back so Feige won't have to worry about Sony or his rival Avi Arad being poison to him again. Kaz Hirai has been under pressure from activist investors to dump the SOE unit altogether for some time Their investors would jump at the chance if Marvel/Disney made a offer to get Spidey back 100% . I hope they do it in the next 2 months because they're not really good at making movies anymore so Spider-Man can finally be at Marvel/Disney 100% and Disney can finally use him for their own productions like reviving SSM and the MTV Spider-Man shows and A MAU animated movie. Then Marvel will own Spider-Man forever and Disney is distributing Homecoming and Marvel is doing the sequel. But the reason why the Watchers made a appearance in GOTG VOl. 2 is because the FF rights will be going back to Marvel soon because Constantin owner of the rights wants to do sports instead of moves and is nearing bankruptcy. Marvel being at both D23 and SDCC means something. very little would make us happier if everything becomes true and the only rights Marvel hasn't got back are the X-Men and Deadpool.

I know nothing about the books. But I do love a Western. And Idris Elba.

And when Idris Elba plays a gunslinging action man how can I resist? The sci fi stuff looked pretty cool, I definitely want to see this.

Also that music!

Love me some Morricone.
