SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Star Zendaya Eyed To Play Chani In Denis Villeneuve's DUNE
On the heels of last night's news that Oscar Isaac is in talks to play The Duke in Denis Villeneuve's Dune reboot, we're hearing that Zendaya (Spider-Man: far From Home is also in line for a key role...
As the cast of Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve's Dune reboot continues to grow, Collider reports that Zedaya is in line for one of the last main roles.
It sounds like this one is not quite set in stone yet, but should the deal go through, the Spider-Man: Far From Home actress would play Chani, who is one of the Fremen warriors that comes to view Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as her savior and ultimately becomes his love interest. This character was played by Sean Young in David Lynch's adaptation.
The movie will also star Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista and Charlotte Rampling
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Dune follows the Atreides family as they relocate to the desolate planet of Arrakis to assume control of the production of the most valuable resource in the galaxy, the Spice Melange. Unfortunately, an act of treachery soon makes an outcast of The Duke Atreides' youngest son Paul, and he must accept his destiny as a powerful prophet of the Arrakis natives known as The Fremen.
There have been several different adaptions of Dune over the years, the most famous - or infamous, depending on your perspective - is David Lynch's ambitious, but flawed 1984 movie starring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Kyle MacLachlan. This latest take will be produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert serving as executive producers.
