SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Tom Holland In Talks For Lead Role In Doug Liman's Sci-Fi Thriller CHAOS WALKING
It sounds like Lionsgate is zeroing in on Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland to join Daisy Ridley in director Doug Liman's upcoming adaptation of the popular sci-fi novel, Chaos Walking.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Lionsgate is eyeing Tom Holland to join their upcoming film adaptation of the popular dystopian young adult novel Chaos Walking. If he signs on, he'll portray the main character Todd Hewitt: a boy who after discovering a terrible secret about his hometown is forced to run away with his trusty dog.
The novel of the same name is the first in Patrick Ness' best-selling trilogy about a post-apocalyptic world where there are mysteriously no women, and all remaining living creatures can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called Noise. The story follows the lead protagonist, who after making a startling discovery about the Noise, flees his hometown, and on his journey encounters a strange and mysterious creature: a girl - who ultimately joins the duo on their quest to discover the truth behind their existence.
Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) signed on back in August to play the female lead Viola Eade. Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is helming the feature (which is reportedly still a ways from happening) with a script from Academy Award-winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) and Jamie Linden (Money Monster), who completed the most recent draft.
Holland is best known for his roles in The Impossible, In The Heart of the Sea, Edge of Winter, and Captain America: Civil War. He will grace the silver screen next year as Peter Parker in Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures' highly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming and is expected to reprise the role once again in Avengers: Infinity War. His other future projects include The Lost City of Z, The Current War, and Pilgrimage.
