A New Rumor Claims Jon Favreau's STAR WARS Show Will Be Set On Mandalore 3 Years After The Fall Of The Empire

While we have a general idea of where Jon Favreau's Star Wars series falls in the timeline, most of the story details remain a mystery. Fortunately, a new rumor may shed some light on the Disney project.

We recently learned that Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series would have a budget close to $100 million, but we still don't have an official word on what the show will be about. However, if this new rumor from Making Star Wars is correct, we may finally have details on the setting and the plot.

According to the site's sources, the series will be "set around three years after Return of the Jedi" on the planet Mandalore. But unlike other planets in the galaxy, the Mandelorian home is in turmoil following the fall of the Empire, and the show will be about "restoring Mandalore to its former self."

No other story details were shared, but if this rumor proves true, it means fans will finally see Mandalore make its live-action debut. Who knows, perhaps fan-favorite characters like Sabine and Bo-Katan, or the legendary Darksaber, will make an appearance.

Either way, it will be interesting to return to the planet that is mostly known for its role in the animated Clone Wars show.

Everything about this project sounds spectacular. Favreau is one of my favorite filmmakers and he’ll kill it.

@MrDandy - yeah I have a lot of faith in Favreau, and he is going to be using the technology he used for Jungle Book for VFX, so that should be sweet.

Not to sound like a total nerd but, technically this would be 2 years after the fall of the empire. Even though the emperor died in ROTJ the empire didn’t fold till a year later at the battle of Jakku.

@BreakTheCode - That’s the new canon garbage though. It’s best to dismiss that as it is.

@Edministrator - Well you can, I won’t. Besides if you watch this show you would be accepting the new canon.

I could go for a series surrounding Luke, Kylo, and Snoke, leading into the force awakens. I know this isn't it, but a clone wars style could work.

Meh. Nothing Disney SW has done has gotten much enthusiasm from me. Rebels and the Sequel Trilogy have largely been a waste of time and money. And the comics don’t care any better

Hmm, interesting. Initially the rumor was that this was set 7 years after Episode 6. I kind of wish that we were getting more than just 3 years, something that really was in the middle of Return and Awakens so that it could bridge the gap of how the Republic allowed the First Order to rise.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I agree. Only hope is they make a clone wars style animated show with Luke, Kylo, and Snoke. I don't see why not.

Pre Vizsla being played by Jon Favreau in the Clone Wars, and now a show about Mandalorians?

Makes sense...dude probably fell in love with their untapped potential for great storytelling.
