STAR WARS EPISODE IX: THE AMERICANS Star Keri Russell Eyed For Key Role In The J.J. Abrams Helmed Movie
It sounds like Keri Russell will be reunited with Mission: Impossible III director J.J. Abrams because it's now been revealed that The Americans star is being eyed for a key role in Star Wars Episode IX...
It's about time we got some casting news for Star Wars Episode IX and this is a good one! According to Variety, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes star Keri Russell is set to join the cast of the J.J. Abrams helmed release. This reunites her with the director after they previously worked on Mission: Impossible III and she's since received critical acclaim for her starring role in FX's now concluded The Americans.
Apparently, Abrams and Lucasfilm have been meeting with a number of actresses for the past two months but Russell is who they want and it's thought that two more actors will be cast before August.
As of right now, we have no idea whether she'll be a Rebel, a member of The First Order, or something in between but this is an impressive casting addition and one which is very exciting indeed. This modern iteration of the Star Wars franchise has become known for strong female leads, so we can probably expect to see Russell have something good to do here. As always, stay tuned for updates.
