STAR WARS: OBI-WAN KENOBI Anthology Movie Reportedly Set To Commence Production In Early 2019

It was recently announced that the long-rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi movie was officially in the works, & now we're hearing that Lucasfilm is readying the Star Wars spin-off for an early 2019 production start.

We recently got word that Disney and Lucasfilm were working on the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie we've been hearing about for years, and now we may have an idea of when the Star Wars spin-off is scheduled to commence production.

According to the guys over at Omega Underground - who tend to be fairly accurate with shoot dates - filming is set to begin at Pinewood Studios UK sometime in January of 2019, putting it on track for a 2020 release.

No plot details have been confirmed yet, but the story is expected to follow the Jedi master's adventures on Tatooine between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Nor do we have word on whether Ewan McGregor will return as Kenobi, but the actor has repeatedly expressed interest in reprising the role so it's probably a safe enough bet.

Wrong way. We got his origin. It was called the Phantom Menace.
We need to see what he got up to between ROTS and New Hope.

@BritishMonkey - That is exactly what the article said so...

@Oskir - Yeah, which means it will probably be (loosely) based off those Kenobi novels that happened between 3 and 4. Among the only novels I haven't read because they looked really bad. Now I have to.

@BritishMonkey - Dude, did you actually read the article? What you’re arguing is exactly what the article says.

More interested in this than Solo, but ultimately Rian Johnson's trilogy is the only Star Wars related thing I'm looking forward to.

The Star Wars property I’m most excited to see on the big screen. It would be so, so silly not to bring Ewan back for the role too. His Kenobi is probably my favourite Star Wars character.

Why dough? Weren't the prequels like his origins.

@Roodi - Yes... I changed the title as it's most likely not going to recount his origins.

Its been said before, but just take inspertation from Yojimbo and you'll have one hell of a star wars film. Make the villains a group of bounty hunters, show Kenobi training Qui Gonn Jinn, and show him having ptsd from the slaughter of the Jedi.

@CurlyBill - I've never heard you say this lol...

But I have said this so I agree with you

I'm really excited for this

*levi internally screaming looking his Obi-Wan film outline inspired by Yojimbo, Mad Max, Logan, & Fistful of Dollars that would have a suicidal & depressed Obi-Wan living on Tattoonie looking after Luke while Obi-Wan himself suffers from PTSD from the Clone Wars, an unbearing sense of guilt from what happened with Anakin, & questioning the Jedi Order & his purpose as the film would focus on faith in ones self with Obi-Wan having little to no faith in himself & the Jedi Order & it ending in Obi-Wan having faith in himself & the Jedi Order*

Yea. Yojimbo is one of my favorite films ever.

My Obi-Wan film would've also been inspired by the recent season of Samurai Jack.

The villains for my film would've been Jabba the Hutt & bounty hunters (not Boba Fett)

*levi imagines an alternate timeline where he directs the film*

@LEVITIKUZ - Great outline! Agree completely with him starting out with no faith in the order or himself, then by the end finding his faith again. I would also like to see more of the sandpeople, maybe as secondary antagonists.
