Star Wars: The Last Jedi remains one of the more divisive instalments in the iconic Skywalker Saga, but one moment that did seem to resonate with most fans is the conversation between Luke and Yoda's force ghost on Ahch-To.

As Skywalker contemplated burning the sacred Jedi texts, the diminutive Jedi Master appeared to offer guidance to his old apprentice when he needed it most. It was a welcome return for one of the franchise's most popular and enduring characters, but it sounds like the scene could have played out very differently.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, director Rian Johnson revealed that he considered using Anakin Skywalker's force ghost instead of Yoda's for the sequence.

It's hard to argue with Johnson's logic. Though Luke and Anakin would no doubt have had plenty to discuss, Yoda made more sense for the purposes of this particular scene.

We haven't seen Anakin's force ghost since he was added to the re-release of Return of the Jedi (we did hear his voice in The Rise of Skywalker), but Hayden Christiansen has been rumored to reprise the role for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

What do you guys think? Would you have preferred to see Anakin return instead of Yoda in The Last Jedi?

@BreakTheCode -

He was right about not using Anakin. That would have made no sense and was a strange idea.

@MasterMix - What trilogy? The sequel to Episode 6 is Mandalorian. Theres no way that Empire 2.0 came a few decades later and that the most passionate and reckless hero in geek culture would become emo and let his friends die.
