Noomi Rapace Will Not Reprise Her Role As 'Elizabeth Shaw' In Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

While talking with the Daily Mail, Prometheus director Ridley Scott revealed that Noomi Rapace (who played Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in first film), will not reprise her role in Alien: Covenant. When asked about her involvement, Scott revealed that she was not involved, and that they are still going through the process of "casting the main roles."

Based on how Prometheus ended, it's pretty insane that Noomi will not be in the film. It was already revealed that Michael Fassbender is reprising his role as David, and it was rumored that there will be multiple copies of his android throughout the film. With that said, most of you might ask: How could this sequel be possible without Rapace's character? Here's my take on this...

Ridley Scott could easily go with a time jump here. This film could take us decades into the future, after Elizabeth is long gone. David would survive because he's an Android, and androids aren't humans, therefore he lives. With that done, David could carry out the work of Elizabeth Shaw, and venture out to the Engineer's home world to find answers. Along the way, he'll run into many new creatures, and somehow find some human life! From that point, the storyline would then focus on David and whatever humans he finds, as they finish out the action-packed events of the film. While that's one possible explanation out of many, we'll see for sure what Ridley has planned when the sequel hits theaters in 2017.

Anyhow, Ridley Scott, in a separate interview with The Guardian, spoke about the challenges he faces while directing a film like Alien: Covenant. "It is bloody brain surgery! You're putting together a whole group of people, you're trying to budget as accurately as you can and, at the end of it, you've got to sell a lot of tickets. That's more complex than banking - but a few of us manage to pull it off." He then added, "I’m not kidding myself; I love the challenge. If you don’t, don’t do the job." He's got a point there. What do you think will happen in the next film in the "Alien" franchise? Share your thoughts about this news in the comment section below!

Alien: Covenant hits theaters on October 6, 2017, and it will have a "pretty hard R" rating.
