If you haven't read Stephen King's epic series of novels revolving around The Dark Tower, attempting to spell the plot out to you in just a paragraph or two simply would not do it justice. Part Western and part sci-fi, it's an epic tale revolving around the battle between The Gunslinger and The Man in Black, and it's now coming to the big screen with Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in those roles.

Serving as a sequel to/reboot of the novels (no bad thing after King arguably lost the plot with the finale), The Dark Tower looks set to launch a franchise both on the big and small screen, so if this first instalment is a hit, we can expect The Gunslinger to stick around for a very long time to come.

These new character posters put an emphasis on the war between the two as they both set their sights on the powerful structure the movie is named for and it appears as if we can finally expect the marketing campaign to kick off in a big way now. What do you guys think of these new posters?

Hm. I haven't read anything past the one with the train on the cover...maybe the one before Wolves of Callah or something. But I will say I've read The Talisman and Black House over and over. Those are great

Hmmmm… could Idris' eyes become bright blue like the runes on his guns when he uses them? That would be a cool nod to Roland's piercing blue eyes in the novels…

I'm glad we're starting to see some posters and teasers. I was worried the movie was going to be pushed back again.

So...the Man IN black vs the Man THATS black? What would they call the Man in black, if HE was black? Black man in Black?

I'm mostly just making fun of the few people I seen complain about the casting. I could give two sets of Gusto dentures...

Do I have to be the one to say McConaughey looks quite 'derpy' in this poster?

"no bad thing after King arguably lost the plot with the finale" - Completely unnecessary inclusion. But as a King and Dark Tower fan, the tone/vibe of these posters aren't inspiring confidence. Look like promo for a CBS drama. Still can't wait to see the movie, as these books are one of the most beloved, yet untapped, fictional worlds.
