Along with the likes of Tom Holland, Barry Keoghan and Austin Butler, actor Timothée Chalamet is viewed as one of the next big stars in Hollywood that's set to lead the next era of moviemaking.
Interestingly enough, Chalamet revealed in the past that the two pieces of advice he received from the venerable Leonardo DiCaprio was to say no to superhero movies and avoid hard drugs.
However, in a new interview with the NY Times to promote the release of Dune: Part Two, the Wonka actor has revealed that it was a Christian Bale Batman movie that inspired him to get into acting in the first place.
Said Chalamet, "But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it."
Given that statement, it's interesting to ponder what kind of role DC Studios co-chair James Gunn could find for Chalamet in the DCU, given that Chalamet appears to have settled in at Warner Bros. Discovery.
Chalamet as Nightwing? The Brave and the Bold is set to introduce Damian Wayne so it stands to reason that all of the previous Robins will factor into the film, in some fashion.
How about Chalamet as Wally West version of the Flash? If WBD doesn't outright sideline the Scarlet Speedster after the debacle of the Ezra Miller film, moving on to Barry Allen's successor would be a smart way to distance themselves from that film. One trip to the hairdresser and Chalamet would certainly have the right look to portray the founding Teen Titans member.
It's also worth considering if Gunn would consider breaking his rule of not casting for a role until a script has been completed and let Chalamet handpick the writer and director that he would want to work with.
Marvel Studios routinely hires talent before a script or director has been secured, with the recent casting of Mahershala Ali as Blade providing the most recent example.
Given that Gunn secured his role as co-chair on the strength of his Guardians of the Galaxy films, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he would bend his rules and steal from Kevin Feige's playbook to nab an 'it' actor such as Chalamet.
