Yes I know this isn't a CBM, but since Cuaron is such a great genre director and there are 3 prominent CBM actors involved I figured it was news worthy.
According to Heatvision the lead role of a female astronaut in Cuaron's(Children Of Men, Harry Potter 3) upcoming movie, previously ear marked for Angelina Jolie, has come down to two. Scarlet Johannson(Iron Man 2) and Blake Lively(Green Lantern). A decision is expected to be made within the next week or so. The film has been shrouded in mystery for a while but now the basic premise has been revealed..
The movie's plot revolves around astronauts repairing the Hubble telescope who are hit with an avalanche of satellite junk. In a plot akin to "Cast Away," the surviving astronaut must fight her way back to Earth, where she hopes to reunite with her daughter.
The project originally was set up at Universal as a vehicle for Angelina Jolie, but it moved to Warners, where it hit debris of its own: Jolie left the project, partially because of the studio's balking at paying her $20 million fee. Although Downey brings star power to the project, his role is overshadowed by the female lead, whose struggle to survive becomes the movie's focus.
Mmmm. I'm going to assume that means that RDJ dies then! Unless of course he isn't playing a member of the crew and is the main character's voice back home or something. Anyway, apparently
Inception's Marion Cotillard also tested for the role, but Cuaron is dead set on one of these two lovely ladies. Sources say that
Gravity will be 60% CGI, with many hybrid CGI and live-action elements.
