Life continues to find a way with the
Jurassic Park franchise; while the second installment of the newest trilogy -
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - is still a few months away from release, a third film was confirmed over the weekend, with
Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow at the helm.
Fallen Kingdom will be making some direct ties back to the original trilogy, the most overt being the inclusion of Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum. While Goldblum is the only major cast member to return from the original trilogy, he cheekily hinted to Entertainment Tonight last month that Laura Dern's Ellie Sattler could make a small cameo in the film:
"I don't want to pass on gossip like my character," Goldblum said.
"But it would be good news to me and to everyone, [to] millions and billions of people all over the world… all over the universe and cosmos when Ellie Sattler returns."
In last week's episode of
Watch What Happens with Andy Cohen, Goldblum continued to tease the possibility of Dern returning when asked by a caller.
“Maybe I said too much. I don’t know for sure, I can’t divulge anything [about Laura Dern’s possible cameo]. But maybe, maybe…” Additionally, Golblum hinted that there could be a few more familiar faces returning in the third installment.
“There’s gonna be another one that some people may or may not be in. That’s all I can say.”
What do you make of Goldbum's comments? Could the third
Jurassic World film unite the old and new casts? Let us know your speculative ideas in the usual place!
