JURASSIC WORLD Makes A Smashing $1 Billion At The International Box Office
Jurassic World continues to impress young fans and families around the world! In fact, it was just announced that the film has crossed the $1 billion mark at the international box office! What other major accomplishment did Universal pictures? Hit the jump to check out all the details...
According to a report by Variety, Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World has crossed the $1 billion mark at the international box office! Jurassic World is just the fourth film ever to rack up $1 billion internationally! The other three films are Titanic, Furious 7, and Avatar which has made the most money all-time in the box office!
The film that starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard made an extra $2.7M overseas which allowed it to hit one billion dollars! The president of distribution for Universal Pictures Duncan Clark expressed his thoughts regarding the announcement. “When we opened the film, we never expected to get to $1 billion but we knew we had the goods along with tremendous support from marketing and filmmakers who gave us everything." He then continued. "It became a movie for teens and the entire family in every country.” With that said, we can only wait anxiously for the arrival of the sequel film!
Even though Jurassic World crossing the $1 Billion mark at the International Box Office was an amazing feat, Universal Pictures also revealed that they are the first studio to ever have three films make 1 billion bucks in one year! These include, Jurassic World, Minions, and Furious 7. On top of that, they also announced that they've crossed $6 billion in box office receipts! That's big bucks! The studio made $3.886 billion internationally and $2.157 billion in the U.S., topping the record Fox held last year ($5.53 billion).
With this accomplishment, I'm pretty sure you can expect Universal to go forward with trilogies for the Jurassic World franchise and the Minions! That should be splendid news for anyone who's a fan of those franchises! But I have a feeling that making more films for those franchises won't be the only thing Universal does. I mean, with all that money they can buy that awesome new BB-8 figure released by Disney! No?
