JURASSIC WORLD Makes A Smashing $1 Billion At The International Box Office

According to a report by Variety, Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World has crossed the $1 billion mark at the international box office! Jurassic World is just the fourth film ever to rack up $1 billion internationally! The other three films are Titanic, Furious 7, and Avatar which has made the most money all-time in the box office!

The film that starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard made an extra $2.7M overseas which allowed it to hit one billion dollars! The president of distribution for Universal Pictures Duncan Clark expressed his thoughts regarding the announcement. “When we opened the film, we never expected to get to $1 billion but we knew we had the goods along with tremendous support from marketing and filmmakers who gave us everything." He then continued. "It became a movie for teens and the entire family in every country.” With that said, we can only wait anxiously for the arrival of the sequel film!

Even though Jurassic World crossing the $1 Billion mark at the International Box Office was an amazing feat, Universal Pictures also revealed that they are the first studio to ever have three films make 1 billion bucks in one year! These include, Jurassic World, Minions, and Furious 7. On top of that, they also announced that they've crossed $6 billion in box office receipts! That's big bucks! The studio made $3.886 billion internationally and $2.157 billion in the U.S., topping the record Fox held last year ($5.53 billion).

With this accomplishment, I'm pretty sure you can expect Universal to go forward with trilogies for the Jurassic World franchise and the Minions! That should be splendid news for anyone who's a fan of those franchises! But I have a feeling that making more films for those franchises won't be the only thing Universal does. I mean, with all that money they can buy that awesome new BB-8 figure released by Disney! No?

With the Jurassic World sequel set hit theaters June 22, 2018, sound off below with your thoughts!

Universal has released a lot of bad movies this year. Straight outta Compton and trainwreck weren't. But 50 shades, boy next door, furious 7, Jurassic World, Minions are all really bad in their varying degrees.

The movie was good but not good enough to deserve this. But Chris Pratt does deserve all that comes with it.

The movie had a few good scenes but I really can't see how this movie made so much money.

The sequel should be about how archaeologists find out that dinosaurs aren't exactly extinct like we thought. The real dinosaurs have been evolving, they a greater threat than the Indominus Rex. It would be a mix of Jurassic World and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

I don't get why it is so surprising that it made this much...Its basically its own genre...Anyway, its sequel won't make as much as the first which means Disney would call it a "Failure"...lel

It's pretty simple:

Chris Pratt + dinosaurs + built-in fanbase vulnerable to falling for cheap nostalgia = $$$

@Fornication

It was not that bad, to me it was on the same level of Antman!

Not surprised that Joellem brought up Marvel in a non-Marvel related article.

I can see why a great many wonder how this film overperformed.
It's just an okay movie. Shouldn't have made that much money.
Reasons it's done well must be that there was little competition & it's a popular franchise despite the weak sequels.
Chris Pratt is one of a few very good leading man actors in his age group.
Seriously, right now there are shockingly few good young leading men for action adventure.

LMAO at people talking about Chris Pratt. People can't help but have Marvel Kool-Aid on the brain.

I'm pretty sure that the [frick]ing DINOSAURS were the stars of JW. Plus, most people can't even tell you the name of Pratt's character in this movie. I know I can't, and I've seen it TWICE.

The GA have been clamoring for an at least acceptable dinosaur movie. I thought it was a good movie for the genre. I'm glad they are continuing to make dinosaur movies.
