More Godzilla Promised For GODZILLA 2; Bryan Cranston On The First Film’s “Narrative Mistake”

With Godzilla only having about ten minutes of screen time in the first film, Barnaby Legg, the creator of the "Godzilla Encounter" at SDCC ’13, revealed that we’ll see a lot more Godzilla in the sequel.

Even though Godzilla didn’t officially have a Comic-Con panel, or didn’t even really get a mention during Legendary’s panel, Barnaby Legg, the man behind the speculator Godzilla tease at San Diego Comic Con '13, spoke with some fans and revealed that Godzilla will be seen much more than he was in the first film. “Oh, don't worry. We know. All I can say is stay tuned! You're going to get exactly what you're hoping for.” Godzilla was only counted for about 10 and a half minutes of screen time in the first film, so it’ll be interesting to see what they do, especially with King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan set to make their monstrous appearances.

Aside from Godzilla, Bryan Cranston also attended Comic-Con, and had the chance to speak on his role in Godzilla. While he enjoyed the experience, he disliked the fact that his character died so early in the film. “I was reading that script going, 'Wow here's the emotional core! This character-- And he's dead!' Whoa! Page 50 and he's dead! How did that happen?” He then continued, “I told them, I said, 'You're going to make a mistake by killing this character too soon.' It's just a narrative mistake to have this happen. And it's not me. Anybody else who played this character-- It's too much...” While revealing his feelings on the decision made, he then joked, and told how the FULL story should be told at another time. “Eh, it's a long story. Doesn't matter! Wait for Godzilla 2 to come out! I'm still dead.”

Even though the King of Monsters didn’t have a panel at Comic-Con, you should expect some news regarding him at next year’s Comic-Con! But hey, I’m sure we won’t have to wait that long for some new details on Godzilla 2. Ain’t that right Legendary? No? We’ll find out soon enough! Sound off below with your thoughts!

Godzilla is a 2014 American science fiction monster film directed by Gareth Edwards and a reboot of Toho's Godzilla franchise. The film is set mostly in the present day, fifteen years after a discovery that leads to the awakening of two giant creatures, known as "MUTOs", who in turn awaken a much larger and more destructive, ancient alpha predator known as "Godzilla" whose existence has been kept secret by the U.S. government since 1954. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston.

I actually wasn't too big a fan of Cranston in this particular role, but it wouldn't have hurt the movie to keep the character alive a while longer.

Anyways, loooking forward to the sequel! :)

The first one should of had Bryan as the male lead. Quickass' character wasn't that interesting or compelling. Having someone older who has lost someone is much more appealing and human to me.

Cranston was the best character in the movie other than Godzilla himself. I was really bummed when they killed him off so early.

Still thought the movie was great though

it was a good movie but imo the pacing was really too slow.
I know they tried to create suspence but still ...
And yes ... not enough monster fights for a monster movie.

also ... i think they should focus on new characters. Olsen and Johnson characters should be replaced.

the plot was good though. It was really well written plot.

Edwards must have been smoking something real good to think that killing off Cranston's character was a good idea. I was shocked that they got rid of the character so soon. Still enjoyed the movie though.

cranston should have been the main character in this movie. ATJ was just dull and boring.
