'King Kong' Origin SKULL ISLAND Gets A New Title; Backs Down From DOCTOR STRANGE

Skull Island has backed down from the power of Marvel and Benedict Cumberbatch and will no longer open opposite Doctor Strange in 2016. Instead, we'll be waiting quite a while longer to see it.

Well, it looks like we'll never find out who would win in a fight between Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston as Skull Island Kong: Skull Island has been pushed back to March 10th, 2017. It was originally set to open opposite Doctor Strange on November 4th, 2016, but if Batman and Superman are scared of facing off against Marvel, you have to imagine that King Kong is as well! Kong: Skull Island will be helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and a vague description revealed earlier this year that, "Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions."

Seriously, Skull Island was enough. Guess they're scared people won't realize that it's connected to King Kong.

Marvel is that silent dude, in a shady bar corner. Giving commands to other shady cats just by looking in their directions.

Please let this turn out to be a reboot, that way it can lead to a Godzilla vs King Kong movie.

The film everyone should be afraid of in 2016 is Suicide Squad.

That sucks, especially since Skull Island had the date first.

So now, no studio can make any business decisions or changes to filming schedule without it turning it into a "their scared" situation.

@Wannabe
"The film everyone should be afraid of in 2016 is Suicide Squad."

I doubt that.

None of the characters of Suicide Squad have been established meaning that unless the exposition is done well the characters will fall flat. Its also Jokers first time appearing in live action without Batman, which is going to be a risk. The reason people like most these villains is because of the dynamics they have. While Harley and the Joker's dynamic may be interesting, i doubt it can support a movie.

Granted it'll likely be a profiteable movie as its the first live action time DC have strayed away from just plain old Batman and Superman, but still, its unlikely that Suicide Squad will be the film everyone should be afraid of.

If anything 2016's most likely highest grossing films will likely be;
- Captain America; Civil War
- X-Men Apocalypse
- Transformers 5
- Ice Age 5
- Untitled Star Wars Spin-off

All of which seem set to earn in excess of $800M+

"So now, no studio can make any business decisions or changes to filming schedule without it turning it into a "their scared" situation."

You have to admit its definitely odd that their are so many films nowadays backing away from dates when Marvel films are released. The common factor is the idea of a Marvel film near their original release date...

Well 3 Big movies(dawn of justice, pan, and skull island) backed away from Marvel.... it's becoming pretty obvious, nobody wants to go up against them

50 shades of grey ran from Guardians of the Galaxy. Dawn of Justice ran from Captain America: Civil War. Pan ran from Antman.....ANTMAN!!! Skull Island runs from Dr Strange.

It's quite obvious

But yeah, Marvel really changing the status quo. It's insane.

Wise decision,Marvel Studios is a brand that you better have big balls or a lot of faith in your movie if you want to release movie on the same day.

As long as it's a good flick I cold care less where it moves.

P.S. Power Rangers is also set to hit 2016. Don't sleep on the Rangers people.

While I have absolutely no doubt that any studio is wholeheartedly avoiding having any of their movies open close to a Marvel movie, it just irks me that its automatically assumed it was done just solely for that reason (if that makes sense). I dont think Pan moved because of Antman, I think it moved because of those Minions my kids love.

Go out in a mall and ask people... what would you rather see coming out on the same day? Kong: Skull Island or Dr. Strange?

Guarantee you at least 93% of them don't even know what the [frick] Dr. Strange is.

They obviously are not ready to shoot this film.
