THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS Might Feature A Surprise VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Crossover

The Matrix Resurrections was shot in San Francisco at the same time as Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and it turns out the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster will include a surprise, unexpected cameo appearance.

The Matrix Resurrections is exciting for a lot of reasons, though only time will tell whether this fourth instalment can return the iconic franchise to its former glory. It certainly looks promising, and it sounds a lot like we should be keeping our eyes peeled for some huge Easter Eggs.

You'll remember that Venom: Let There Be Carnage was shot in San Francisco around the same time, with helicopters used by the Resurrections crew actually visible in the background of that Marvel Comics sequel. Was the favour returned in any way, though? Well, it seems Eddie Brock himself, Tom Hardy, may have found his way into the background of this latest Matrix movie!

According to The Matrix Resurrections star Jessica Henwick, the actor stopped by set and ended up shooting a little something. "We were filming in San Francisco at the same time as Venom 2, and I met Tom Hardy," she recalled in an interview with Den of Geek. "And so, Tom Hardy and I are running in the background of one of the scenes. And I’m so curious to see whether it made the cut."

"I can’t wait to get a digital copy of the film, because I’m actually in the background in a bunch of scenes as me, Jess," Henwick added, leaving us to wonder what sort of crazy visuals we'll see in the movie courtesy of director Lana Wachowski. "So if someone zooms in, they’ll be like, ‘Wait. Is that Bugs in the background, in the mob, running?'"

This wouldn't be Hardy's first high-profile cameo, as he also shot a scene for Star Wars: The Last Jedi in which he played a Stormtrooper who was once friends with Finn. Unfortunately, that ended up on the cutting room floor, but it's worth tracking down because it's a very funny exchange.

The Matrix Resurrections is set to be released in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.

CBM : The Matrix Ressurections might have a Venom: let there be Carnage cameo.

: huh, how is that possible? Matrix is WB and Venom is Sony?

CBM : We're straight up blagging, creating a false narrative for eyes, Tom Hardy may or may not be seen in the background of a shot if it makes it into the film.

: Oh :/

@ARMUS - ...what false narrative? According to the article, Tom hardy is having a cameo. Sure, not specifically as Eddie Brock (or at least not as a character specifically named Eddie brock) but it still works based on what's being said here. Obviously we aren't literally getting venom in this movie, since that would make both sonyverse and the mcu as part of the matrix.

@Origame - the title says matrix/venom crossover, not Tom Hardy cameo. Author did it for the clicks

@Origame - The Matrix Ressurections might feature a Venom: Let There Be Carnage crossover, everything in this wording paints a picture, it tells a story that isn't true.

The Matrix Ressurections might feature a cameo from the star of Venom : Let There Be Carnage 👍🏻

Yet another garbage clickbait article from Josh. What did I expect?

There's a difference between a crossover and a cameo. They aren't synonyms. But gotta gobble up those clicks. Nom nom nom. Hack.

So if Jessica Henwick's Bugs is in Venom 2, then the reality of Venom 2 is actually The Matrix.

So if he comes through into the MCU naked and covered in slime (hope*hope) then he actually has come through from another universe.
But if he comes through like we saw him in Venom (which he did in that end-credits scene) then all of the MCU and the surrounding multiverse is all just a part of the Matrix, an artificial reality within a greater superceding universe.

Fvcked up, no?
