Earlier this month, Universal gave us
our first full look at Peter Jackson's next epic adventure, Mortal Engines. While he's not directing the film, he did write the adaptation and is serving as producer. As such, we can probably expect some pretty magnificent set pieces - especially since the film is set in a world that's unlike anything we've ever seen before.
Universal has released a new featurette for the film, offering us an inside look at the unique world of
Mortal Engines, where gigantic moving cities roam the Earth following a cataclysmic event that destroyed civilization. It's an intriguing premise and one that definitely allows for some creative liberty. And who better to help bring that vision to life than Peter Jackson?
"The breadth of vision that they brought to Lord of the Rings, they're going to bring the same to Mortal Engines," says Robert Sheehan, who plays Tom Natsworthy in the movie, of Jackson and his team. Check out the full video below for more from the cast and crew of
Mortal Engines as they discuss the highly anticipated fantasy adventure.
Thousands of years after a cataclysmic event, humans try to survive on a planet where gigantic moving cities ruthlessly prey upon smaller traction towns. When Londoner Tom Natsworthy encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw, he soon finds himself forging an unlikely alliance that changes the course of the future.
Mortal Engines rolls into theaters December 14.
