Power Rangers fans continue to wait with very thin patience for a second trailer for the upcoming franchise reboot, though Saban seems content with toys, set photos and a few official pictures doing most of the talking for their film.
The brand's latest marketing push comes in the form of a virtual reality tie-in game,
Power Rangers: Zords Rising. We got a very blurry shot of the game two days ago, along with our
first look at Bryan Cranston's
Zordon. Now, a brand new poster advertising the game has given us another look at the Rangers, the robotic Alpha 5 (Bill Hader), and the Zords, along with what appears to be the film's version of the Rangers' command centre and the portal through which Zordon will appear.
Lionsgate also released a statement about their partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to make the game.
"We’re delighted to team with Qualcomm Technologies on a virtual reality experience that will bring fans closer to the action of Saban’s Power Rangers as they prepare for the film to arrive on the big screen. Qualcomm Technologies’ cutting-edge VR technology provides a platform for a compelling Power Rangers experience and represents a major evolution in the fidelity and immersion made possible through mobile VR." The game will be available to try at the CES Conference over the weekend, but there is no word on a home release date just yet.
Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
