Power Rangers fans continue to wait with very thin patience for a second trailer for the upcoming franchise reboot, though Saban seems content with toys, set photos and a few official pictures doing most of the talking for their film.

The brand's latest marketing push comes in the form of a virtual reality tie-in game, Power Rangers: Zords Rising. We got a very blurry shot of the game two days ago, along with our first look at Bryan Cranston's Zordon. Now, a brand new poster advertising the game has given us another look at the Rangers, the robotic Alpha 5 (Bill Hader), and the Zords, along with what appears to be the film's version of the Rangers' command centre and the portal through which Zordon will appear.

Lionsgate also released a statement about their partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to make the game. "We’re delighted to team with Qualcomm Technologies on a virtual reality experience that will bring fans closer to the action of Saban’s Power Rangers as they prepare for the film to arrive on the big screen. Qualcomm Technologies’ cutting-edge VR technology provides a platform for a compelling Power Rangers experience and represents a major evolution in the fidelity and immersion made possible through mobile VR." The game will be available to try at the CES Conference over the weekend, but there is no word on a home release date just yet.

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

I really don't understand why people have such an issue with the designs so far? From the trailer it was obvious the movie was gonna be more Alien than the show and so far Im loving everything I see so far

@SuperheroNews -

- The costumes are a bit unnecessarily complicated.
- The whole alien asthetic clashes heavily with the Zord's, a problem the original show never had.
- The plot that we've seen seems too similar to Chronicle, which doesnt fit with the over-the-top nature of Power Rangers
- The villain design for Goldar is lacking in character and seems more like a gold megazord.
- The lack of seeing any actual action from the Zords, Megazord, Rita, The Putties, Zordon, Alpha 5... basically everything Power Rangers has been hidden from trailers

@Scarilian - Alpha 5 has eyes so that the audience can attach to the character (eyes are gate way to the soul, e.g. Groot and E.T.)

Zords based on/created from alien tech (morphing grid) merging with the ancient time. They are like xeonmorphs from the Alien films or the venom symbiote from spiderman, improving the host capabilities. A pitch for the film was 'how alien the world back then would look to us now'.

Megazord is a ranger in its self, its a metaphor for the 5 rangers coming together as one being (the idea of the film 5 loners coming together to become a team). Its more of a organic transformation/combination then mechanical one from the original source material.

@Scarilian - You're very right. Why go rocky/organic on the base when the Zords and Alpha basically look like Transformers? There's no real design aesthetic here.

@JONALOTZRH - Right. Tell us exactly how it transforms into the megazord.

@BestAtWhatIDo - Alpha 5 is Organic he transforms his body like matter.

@McNyagano - Its like the combining transformer in the second transformers film but instead of gears it like mater coming out of the morphing grid that stick them together. Look at the light and sound megazord action figure (not the buildable one as thats made up for toy sales) and merge it with the Alpha 5 concept art, so the grey with the metallic blue colour.

@Scarilian - Agreed especially on the last point.

@McNyagano - *swap the grey on the toy with the metallic blue on the Alpha 5 concept art.

@JONALOTZRH - Like this?

Do the individual Zords get any screentime at all before they combine? And where do they keep the Zords?

@JONALOTZRH - That could be cool, but he looks pretty metallic right now.

JONALOTZRH - 1/6/2017, 6:47 AM
@McNyagano - Yeah but maybe closer in so you don't really know whats going on. as it form isn't showing which part is which zord thats why its like very organic. Again this was a couple of month back now and CGI wasn't completely done.

They do but it mostly just to show what weapons and gimmicks they have quite like the original power rangers movie. But they do have a bit of mythology around the look of the zords.

@BestAtWhatIDo - yeah he's metal but it organic metal so the metal changes shape thats what I'm saying.
