Speaking with Horror News, actress Heather Langenkamp (best known for her role in the original Nightmare On Elm Street) reveals that she will be in the highly anticipated sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, director J.J. Abrams' return to the Trek universe. She says that her part is small, but she worked on the film's make-up effects with her husband. The rest of the movie's cast includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg and Alice Eve. Video game voice actor Nolan North also has a small role in the sequel. "I had the opportunity to play a small part in Star Trek, so I'm looking forward to that. I can't tell you anything about that, but that was a thrill for me. My husband and I worked on the makeup effects for Star Trek. He designed some of them, so that's the thing we're looking forward to most. Hopefully we'll be working on something else in January. We don't know what that will be yet, but hopefully it'll be a really fun job."

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013.

It's so bizarrely cool that Heather Langencamp is doing make-up effects now. I remember I was watching the special features on Cabin in the Woods, and she popped up, talking about doing special make-up effects. And after the initial reaction of "wtf are you doing here, Langencamp?", I started to savor the sweet irony of it.

The only thing that could make it any more awesome is if she ended up doing make-up effects for a new Nightmare on Elm Street film.

(A GOOD one, preferably...)

Cool. I must get the Cabin in the Woods DVD for that feature. I didn't know her husband was actually a special effects guy. I thought that was just in New Nightmare. That film was so subversive.
