On Star Trek 2:

"There is a lot of talk that J.J. may or may not be coming back to direct the sequel. There is obviously a relationship between you and Bad Robot. I’m assuming that you want to come back for Star Trek 2."

Oh, yeah. I would love to. It depends on how all of the pieces fall. I would be happy to do another one. It was one of those things that when it ended I was like, Ugh! Never again! But now that time has passed…"

On The Incredibles 2:

"I have many questions that I would like to ask you, but my final question is this: what do we have to do as fans of movies to get Brad Bird to make a sequel to The Incredibles?"

"Wow! That is a tough one! Especially when, you know, the studio is asking the same question: “What do we have to do to be able to make Brad Bird to make The Incredibles!” You know, Brad is all about waiting for the right story to happen and formulate. When Brad comes up with a story that excites him about it you can rest assured that he will sit down and make that movie. For him, he has to able to have a good story that excites him and that it makes it worth doing. He doesn’t want to do it just because the world wants another one. He wants to do it because he wants to tell a great story. That is what motivates him. I love that about him. So for me I go, I will wait. Because you know that whenever that day comes he is going to have something special for us. That is really what it is all about."

Michael Giacchino is a genius, love the Incredibles theme and he was one of the very few reasons I am glad I watched Lost.

I love that this article comes up the morning after I watch The Incredibles for the millionth time. And I am in the exact state of mind where I am dying for an Incredibles sequel

I love how an animated superhero movie is more intelligent and entertaining than half the live-action superhero movies.

My idea for a sequel was to look at how the world reacts to the return of the supers. It was such a big deal that people told them to give up their superhero identities originally and then at the end of the Incredibles, society just welcomes them back like nothing has happened. So I would love to see society reacting to the return of the supers, both in positive and negative ways, maybe even going as far to use the theme of the end of Batman Begins, of escalation. Maybe because there were no superheroes, maybe supervillains slowly disappeared too and now with the return of the superheroes, supervillains return too and they are against superheroes returning to society.

They could also develop how Mr Incredible felt near to the end of the first one, where he was afraid of losing his family and now that they are working as a proper superhero team, he worries about his family more than ever. The kids could also react to actually being superheroes and all the responsibilities that come with it and the parents could react to being proper superheroes in the public spotlight again and all the responsibilites that come with that

And I know I am getting too far ahead of myself, but I would love a third movie too, where the parents have to deal with old age because it is something that is rarely looked at in anything superhero related, what happens when a superhero gets too old to perform their duties. Maybe the kids are getting older and they start to take a new look at their superhero lives. Violet begins to have doubts about her future superhero career and Dash and Jak Jak go off and become a superhero duo at the end of the movie. Maybe the villain could be an old villain of Mr Incredible & Elastigirl, and this villain was one of the worst villains they ever fought, maybe it could also be the original reason they got together. This villain is the first villain they fought together or something

Sorry to go off on my mad rant, but I have REALLY thought through the idea of Incredibles sequels lol

@danchingmonkey8 I really think your idea is really cool. I think you should make a fanfic on the site for your idea.

I don't want an Incredibles 2 unless the story is as good or even better than the first one, so I fully understand why Brad hasn't made one yet. I'm most excited to see Jak Jak's use of his powers, hopefully he's old enough to use them properly in the sequel.

You can count on Bird to come up with something good... it's worth the wait. I have a question for him though:

Who is Kronos and why does he go back in time to recruit and form super-villains.

Instead of Cars 2, The Incredibles should have had a sequel by now. The first was amazing and left plenty open for a potential trilogy. I understand where Mr. Brad Bird is coming from in terms of waiting for the right story. It's the same concept when it comes to writing books as well. I am a writer, by the way. I'm still struggling with finishing my first story, which I hope will be published someday. I liked Syndrome as a villain but in the end he kind of got what he deserved. I wouldn't have killed him but rather send him to prison. Whatever happened to putting villains in prison? Seriously.

In a potential Incredibles Sequel, we need more Frozone. Probably one of the coolest African American super-heroes, second to War Machine.
