OFFICIAL STAR WARS PRESS RELEASE
In addition to the episodes of a new Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank.

"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."

Trank states, "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."

Trank captured imaginations worldwide with his critically lauded directorial debut Chronicle, a fresh and engaging take on the superhero genre. Trank is currently at work on The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.
CHRONICLE is a 2012 American science fiction film directed by Josh Trank in his directorial debut, and written by Max Landis based on a story by both. Three Seattle high-school seniors, bullied Andrew (Dane DeHaan), his cousin Matt (Alex Russell) and more popular Steve (Michael B. Jordan) form a bond after gaining telekinetic abilities from an unknown object. They first use their abilities for mischief and personal gain, until Andrew turns to darker purposes.

@ezio Yeah, it's a pretty solid film; wouldn't say great though. It sort of gets ludicrous in the 3rd act when it comes to ways of incorporating someone recording the said footage. DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan are great though.

JJ Abrams, Gareth Edwards, and now Josh Trank. Disney ain't messing around.

Chronicle was a good movie, Trank is getting too much hate for a movie that hasn't even come out yet.

@ezio619 Truth be told, I'm not a FF fan either, but I do wish they would stay true to the source material.

Although if it's a good movie, then I'm fine with it. If it sucks, I'm going to bitch like everyone else.

What is with this guy? Chronicle wasn't that great. Most of it was an Akira rip-off.

Not a big fan of Trank. Didn't care for Chronicle at all, but I'm not a big Star Wars fan either, so I guess it rightly doesn't matter.
