EW is reporting that Liam Neeson is returning to the Star Wars universe by providing his voice to the character of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jin on the January 28 and February 11 episodes of Clone Wars.

"These characters resonate... even after all these years," Neeson tells EW. "Growing up, my heroes were cowboys; they were strong and mysterious and it seemed like they always rode off into the sunset. For kids today, Star Wars has that same kind of magic. I really wanted to be a part of that."

@Lert, I was thinking the same thing. He seemed surprised when Yoda was telling him about what Qui-gon learned. Maybe he thought this was a one time deal. It's going to be very cool seeing him again.

Hey Michael Rosenbaum take note. Oscar nominated Liam Neeson not afraid to rehash old roles, and I'm pretty sure his schedule is a little bit more full that your schedule.

I like Liam Neeson in anything.

[frick]ing A! He was one of the few good things about Episode 1, but...

@Lert & BIGBMH - You're right. Lucas has gone and changed the Star Wars history again instead of working with what he's already created.

I always heard bitching when it came to Qui Gon Jinn. But, I always loved the character, and Liam Neeson is a god! But, I must geek out a bit... Qui Gon's spirit can't be visiting Obi-Wan at this point. Obi-Wan doesn't find out about it until the end of "Revenge of the Sith," and we are led to believe that Yoda didn't know until shortly before that point... Oh well, it's awesome that they got Liam Neeson back. Kind of makes up for the fact that he got injured before "Revenge of the Sith" and couldn't return for the role...

Thats pretty sweet I love Liam Neeson he is one of the best actors out there. I wonder how did they get him to the voice on a kids show. I wish I could watch this show more often.

I doubt it's his force ghost, the design is too different to the force ghosts in the films and it seems like theyre in a cave, maybe its a vision similar to the one luke had in the cave in degobah

Absolutely FANTASTC!! I LOVE THAT JEDI! One of the few things about the prequels that I thought felt true to the Star Wars mythos and quality!
If that made any sense...you get my drift.

They must have offered him a boat load of cash for not that much work or he had a change in heart. I don't think any of the main actors aside from Hayden and Ian had anything nice to say about the filming of the PT.

Call me a purist but 80+% of the Expanded SWU sucks.

Anyone else catch that GL thinks the world will end in 2012? It was on the Drudge Report site today.

ETA Just watched the clip. Unless those 50 seconds are out of context that is big continuity error.

Don't like it. I love Liam Neeson but this makes no sense. How could Obi Wan not know about him in ROTS?????
