Today, December 27, marks the fifth anniversary of Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher's passing, and fans, friends and co-stars have been paying tribute to the late actress and raising a glass to her memory.
Among those taking to social media to commemorate the iconic Princess Leia star was Mark Hamill, who appeared alongside Fisher in the original Star Wars trilogy as Luke Skywalker.
The two shared just one memorable scene together in the middle chapter of the sequel trilogy, The Last Jedi, and Hamill shared a shot of the closing credits of that movie, which reads, "In Loving Memory of our Princess, Carrie Fisher."
Fisher passed away before The Last Jedi was released, and Rian Johnson's film marked her final time in the role of Princess/General Leia. J.J. Abrams did utilize unused footage of the actress for a posthumous appearance The Rise of Skywalker, however, and despite that movie's mixed reaction, most fans would agree that her scenes served as a fitting send-off to the beloved character and the actress that played her.
The continued remembrance of and respect paid to Fisher is a testament to the lasting impact she's had on fans and those closest to her.
