According to the Kellvin Chavez over at Latino Review, the beloved and oscar winning animation studio Pixar will be teaming up with Lucas Pictures division of Disney to create a movie set in the ‘Star Wars’ universe. This one of the first big moves made by Disney since acquiring the rights to the Star Wars universe. Another move was giving rights to Electronic Arts (EA) to develop a Star Wars interactive universe video game. What the movie will exactly be about is still unknown, but as we all know here at comicbookmovie.com, the possibilities are endless. According to reports Disney itself will remain relatively hands-off in the project and let Pixar cherry pick the storyline they want to do. It’ll be especially interesting to watch this studio, who have created their fair share of beloved characters and franchises, play in someone else’s world.
According to Screen Crush - "We spoke to Pixar's Story Supervisor, Kelsey Mann, last year and he said that he "would love to" do a 'Star Wars' spinoff at Pixar centered around Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon."
However, getting an original Star Wars film from Pixar would mean that the studio will not be releasing an original movie anytime soon, which is a shame because the studio has developed many critically acclaimed films over the years and there will be a significant drought in which Dreamworks can capitalize.
In the meantime, ‘Star Wars: Episode 7‘ will arrive late next year.
