ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Reshoots Cause More Changes As Michael Giacchino Takes Over As Composer

We've known for a while that John Williams wouldn't be providing the score for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it's fair to say that the majority of fans were pleased with the announcement that Alexandre Desplat (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla) would be working on the movie. Well, that's changed as he is no longer available due to reshoots altering the scoring calendar.

Instead, Michael Giacchino will be taking over. He's obviously best known for his work on the Star Trek and Pixar movies, while his next movie is Marvel's Doctor Strange. Some might call this an upgrade, but you can't help but wonder if Disney and Tony Gilroy - who is rumoured to have helmed the reshoots and taken over the post-production process - may have forced Gareth Edwards to make the change.

Giacchino actually made a cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so he's definitely a fan of the franchise and the score is no doubt in great hands. Still, will Rogue One be a mess or something special? It's hard to say at this stage, but these behind the scenes changes definitely feel like a disturbance in the Force. As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this news below.

@JoshWilding I still think there's nothing to worry about. And, I don't agree with u that EW said what they reported on the Rogue One reshoots to shill for Disney. Anthony Breznican of EW who broke all the Star Wars stuff especially on Rogue One and TFA says his sources never lied about what he said. So, I believe him when I say the Rogue One reshoots aren't to change the tone and that he was eighth that the film would lock final picture in August and that scoring would begin in Spetemeber. Stop being so negative. Ur sources are wrong about Rogue One having 50% reshot. Also, Kathleen Kennedy debunked rumors that a Han Solo cameo was shoehorned in. So, that should prove those worrying rumors are BS.
