Star Wars: Outlaws has a tonne of potential, and may well go down as the best Star Wars video game yet. That's no easy feat looking back at past titles, but this newly released video from Massive Entertainment offers a peek into the creation of this title in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

In the featurette we first shared on SFFGazette.com, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showcases how they've built iconic and new locations in this open-world experience.

We also get some background on how the time period and themes were selected, with Julian Gerighty, creative director, detailing how Outlaw’s premise influenced the worlds and elements created for the game. "Building the world of Star Wars Outlaws," he says, "[the] first thing we had to do was think of places that outlaws thrive: these hubs of scum and villainy."

It's clear Westerns were a big inspiration for Star Wars: Outlaws' tone, Lucasfilm's Steve Blank, director of franchise content and strategy noting, "We’ve only scratched the surface of what Star Wars Outlaws has to offer. There is so much more that you will get to embody and use and play when you become Kay Vess."

We're very excited to see how this all comes together, especially as an open-world Star Wars video game presents so many exciting possibilities for fans of the franchise.

"Experience the first-ever open-world Star Wars game," reads the synopsis, "set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new."

"Risk it all as Kay Vess, a scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted."

Star Wars: Outlaws is set to be released in 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

I always forget Josh is British until I see him spell words strangely. In America, we don’t need those extra pointless letters and it’s “ton”.

@mountainman - "strangely" = the correct way. You're literally complaining about how an English person spells English words. And it's website targeted towards everyone and not just Americans.

@Urubrodi - Yes. And the English use it wrong. We perfected their language.

Our food is better. Our women are more attractive. Our weather is better. Our country is more beautiful. And we aren’t the reason why many countries around the world have Independence Days. We saved their asses in WWII. They need to be appreciative of our superiority.

@Dingus - That’s your opinion. We will keep living the dream out here.

The English can continue with their ugly women, f’d up teeth, beans for breakfast, terrible weather, and wrong ways to say things all they want.
