Star Wars Rogue One Prequel Series to film this Fall

The Disney Plus limited series following Diego Luna's Captain Cassian Andor will most likely not debut until the back half of 2020

So, it seems we'll have to wait a while for the Disney Plus streaming TV series following Diego Luna as Rebel spy Cassian Andor in the timeframe before "Rogue One", as TheForce.net reports that filming is scheduled to begin in October of 2019. As the series will most likely involve grand production design and complex special effects, post-production will probably take some time as well, meaning that we might not get to watch the series until at the earliest, late summer or fall of 2020.

From StarWars.com...

"The series follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

However, we'll have plenty to tide us over until then: "Star Wars: Resistance" resumes in January, Jon Favreau's Disney Plus series "The Mandalorian" is currently filming and expected to debut by late 2019 or early 2020 at the latest, and "Star Wars: Episode IX" comes out in just under a year.

I'm surprised that its taken this Disney this long to start production on all these live action Star Wars TV shows. I thought they'd start them the same time as the new movies.

I really want Kenobi to have his own series. I think it’s be better as a small miniseries than a film. So much more stuff you could do.

@DaHyro - Seeing how much Disney are spending on Marvel properties for their streaming service, this isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

@DaHyro - Yeah, especially since we aren't apparently getting that Kenobi-film anyway.

I wonder if Disney will go ‘all in’ with the character? It was interesting to see him do terrible things in the name of “The Good Guys” it took the black and white of the Star Wars mythology and added a shade of grey, so if they explore that nature, seeing how these things affect him, make him question what is right or wrong in war and the galaxy, maybe show a planet under Empire rule that is peaceful to make him question things.

This could be great, just don’t try “Subverting Expectations” at the expense of story.

Disney should keep their ears to the ground. Bet they'll make a show about another uninteresting character like 'Zam Wessel' to cover the prequel-era.

Yeah, the TLJ-experience is still affecting my view of Star Wars. 2018 was the first time since 1997 that I haven't watched a Star Wars film. A Cpt. Cassian Andor TV show won't change my mind.

Another product from Disney that nobody wanted to begin with. The suits at Lucas don't have a clue on what they want. Well, they didn't care from the get go, giving Round Head Johnson the OK to a "film" that infantalised Luke and turned him into Jake. What a joke!
