Only a Star Wars title could have stirred so much controversy over grammar. Everyone has Star Wars: The Last Jedi under a great deal of scrutiny, from the meaning of the red font, to whether the word Jedi in the title refers to one or more individuals, as it can be taken as singular or plural.

Putting the discussion to rest, Lucasfilm just released the title in countries where the singular and plural of the word actually have different spelling. Because of this, we now know that the title is supposed to mean more than one Jedi, as in, Luke and Rey... and maybe more besides.

Check out below the french title:

@ODanil - I mean Whether They are last jedi as in the last jedi we havent killed....or they actually are the last jedi and by episode 9, there will be no more jedi or sith, instead a new group that focuses to keep the balance between the light and dark

@BillCipher999 - @BillCipher999 - Oh, alright. On that, I saw someone saying something very interesting (I think it was Jedi Council?). Think of the immense amount of licensing that the word JEDI has, there's books, toys, games, everything. They are not going to risk all of that. Jedi will still be used in the future.

I think that makes some sense.

Perhaps not all of Luke's students died in the purge? Also For some reason I'm thinking Benecio del Toro's character is Galen Marek

@ApexMandalorian and the fact that they used his name on the enemy's base means nothing to you

@ApexMandalorian and yes I'm aware that name was originally going to be used for luke skywalker but his name went to him and they used his name for the enemy's base so even tho the character isn't canon his name is Dammit!

Can't believe it took this long for this news to appear in an English-speaking movie news website...

By the way, in Brazil it's gonna be "Os Últimos Jedi". If it were singular, it would be "O Último Jedi".
