Michael Shannon recently made some pretty controversial comments about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he's now spoken out about turning down a high profile role in an upcoming Marvel Studios or Star Wars movie. Since starring in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, the actor has stuck to smaller, more critically acclaimed releases, and it sounds like he'll only return to the blockbuster realm when the right project comes along (and it clearly won't be one set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
It was in a recent interview with Fandango that the site asked Shannon if he would consider joining the Marvel or Star Wars Universes down the line, and he went on to make a pretty surprising revelation.
"No, I’m not really looking for that. They called me recently about some iteration – I won’t say – but some version of a movie that’s been made already countless times. They were gonna give me a lot of of money, but I was like nah. Big movie, too. But I have to think it’s an interesting story. If I don’t, I can’t do it. I won’t do it." Unfortunately, the actor didn't specify which movie he was offered.
What do you guys think about Shannon's comments? Do you think he made the right choice turning down one of these movies? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place...
