And boy does it do it too. Hey all Aki87 doing a special review today. I got my hands on a copy of the 6th and final volume of the Scott Pilgrim saga. Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour brings us lots of closure and spectacle that it deserves an Eisner Award for being an awesome volume and an amazing series. To do a quick summary of the first 5 volumes let me say this....Vol 1= good, Vol 2=better than 1, Vol 3= SLOW, Vol 4= quickens the pace, and Vol 5= best set-up for 6.
Alright with that said, the story after waiting for a year picks up months after Ramona's disappearance and Scott is just laying about and wasting his life away on the couch. He no longer is in his band, he has no job, and he is haunted by Gideon but like he does, he ignores it for something else. He meets up with Knives and they bring closure to their relationship after a funny moment. Scott meets up with Envy and has a nice chat with her, he sees Gideon and runs away. HE leaves for something called a Forest Sabbatical, which involves him and Kim bringing closure to their former love life and Scott fights the NEGA-Scott. He "GETS" it and goes back to his town and goes to Gideons new club where Envy is performing. Scott sees his friends and acquaintances all in the club. Gideon comes from behind and they have their first part of them fighting. Gideon proves he is much stronger and _____ Scott. Scott then reunites with Ramona and they come to terms with all the events of preceding up to now and share a loving moment. Ramona then enters the fight and helps Scott fight off Gideon for round two, which doesn't go too far when Gideon steps it up even more. Gideon reveals he has a much deeper plot for Ramona. Scott enters Ramona's purse and fights a SUPER SAIYAN Gideon. Scott and Ramona make Gideon ______ and they start round 4 and Scott gains a new weapon. ___________________ the battle is ________ and they continue what happens after the club event. We find out that ______ is gay, the band is reunited, and Ramona and Scott __________.
So with all that this was the best of the series and brings this series to a great end. I loved the writing in this one much more than any of the other volumes, I think its because O'Malley perfected what he created and he doesn't overbear with exposition or useless chatter. The action was very cool and a lot of it had homages to video games and anime. I give this volume an A+, I loved this series and while its rough at first but stick with it and you enjoy it very much............
BUT WAIT!!!!!! This is where things get interesting. This volume's ending will be in fact MUCH MUCH different to the film's ending. From what we seen in the TV spots and trailers we can see that. So what you read on page will be different on screen. Well thats all for now, stay tuned for my weekly comic reviews, AKI87 OUT!!!!!
