Marvel Studios confirmed early on that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would feature the return of Abomination. While we don't know the extent of his role, it promises to serve as a reintroduction for the character before She-Hulk hits Disney+ next year. So, is Tim Roth part of the Phase 4 movie?
During a recent interview with The Direct, producer Jonathan Schwartz confirmed that "Roth did some vocalization for us...he certainly was part of that process."
"There will be more of Abomination to come, so more of that story to be told," he continued. "With regards to Shang-Chi , it sort of came down to who would be the coolest character for this moment? Who do we want to see in that ring? And then understanding who would make sense for whatever ongoing stories they have going on out there in the bigger universe."
It doesn't sound like we should bank on much in the way of character development, but reminding fans that Abomination exists - and revealing his new look - isn't a bad idea on Marvel Studios' part.
We last saw him in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and that's not a movie we've really seen referenced in the years that have followed. Revisiting his hatred for the Jade Giant promises to be a lot of fun in She-Hulk, though we have a feeling the villain will be taking aim at Jennifer Walters in the series.
