SHANG-CHI Takes The Abomination In A Surprising New Direction - SPOILERS

SHANG-CHI Takes The Abomination In A Surprising New Direction - SPOILERS

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now playing in theatres across the globe, so we're breaking down some major moments from the MCU adventure, starting with the return of the Abomination.

The first trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revealed that The Incredible Hulk villain Emil Blonsky, aka Abomination, would be making his return to the MCU, as we saw him doing battle with Wong in what was believed to be some kind of tournament. However, this sequence - and Abomination's reintroduction - don't play out quite the way we expected.

As it turns out, the "tournament" is actually an underground fight club run by Shang-Chi's sister Xialing, and we only see a few brief shots of Abomination and Wong throwing down. The latter wins by using his foe's brute strength against him, but we later find out that they're actually pals!

Wong and Emil seemingly entered the tournament together (possibly to win a few quid?), and when we catch up with the pair afterwards, the sorcerer is chiding his monstrous companion for not "pulling his punches." With that, Wong opens a portal, which they both step through.

So, it looks like Abomination has turned over a new leaf - or at the very least, is trying to work out his anger issues! What this means for the character's involvement in the Disney+ She-Hulk series remains to be seen (we just assumed he'd be an antagonist), but based on what we saw in Shang-Chi, there's a good chance he'll actually be an ally to Jennifer Walters.

Tell us, have you been to see Shang-Chi yet? If so, were you surprised by Abomination's role in the movie? Let us know in the usual place, and be sure to check out our review HERE.

Eh, Abomination wasn’t really in it long enough to have any sort of impact, but I pretty much expected that.

Loved the movie, does falter a little bit during the finale with sensory overload after the Soul Demon fully escapes. Fight scenes were genuinely exhilarating. Villain was good. Although they messed up by killing Death Dealer instead of Razorfist

And Trevor and Morris obviously stole the show

@Tpo81 - I really enjoyed Ragnarok but it really did destroy the hulk. After that he was just this comedy relief. I miss the scary hulk from the first avengers movie chasing Black Widow down in the helicarrier.

@JonAwesome - I hear you I would agree that hulk was awesome but I like the hulk in ragnarok as a natural progression from avengers.Where he’s like a little kid with all this power & a temper.

@McMurdo - it was after ragnarok where they effed him up imo.The smarthulk was a terrible idea.If it’s only one movie then okay but would’ve been nice having an actual hulk in the final battle against thanks even with a toasted arm

Perhaps Wong helps Abomination so he can find inner peace.

….im sure the movie will be great, but really them turning the abomination into a nice guy, off screen…..

The MCU nails most things but man the handling of Hulk and i guess now one of his villains is so disapointing since after Age Of Ultron

Hopefully Banner gets to kick some ass in She Hulk and if the Leader does ever return its as a villain

If Abomination ever shows up again, hopefully they do something interesting, even if he isnt a straight up villain anymore, he would be perfect choice for the team with Yelena and john walker

@dracula - Abomination is confirmed for She-Hulk…

No doubt they’ll explain what has been up

@dracula - it’s really too quick of a scene to decipher what’s going on besides that they are working together.

@dracula - we can hope but then again, we just caught wind of what Banner is doing in She Hulk……….

And he’s running a [frick]ing BAR

So no Val? I'll be honest, I'm a bit dissappointed. Or the Ross has Abomination out of custody doing stuff like this. Having him be a good guy is kinda... lame I guess

@bkmeijer - We'll see. We know so very little about this right now.

@LSHF - thats true. Still, I am still sceptical seeing how they handled Hulk in recent years (as in keep all major character developments happen off-screen)

@bkmeijer - Yes, I would like to see them on-screen, also. I'm guessing, for one, that they think it just isn't worth the extra expense and running time. But, still, it would be nice.
