While Captain Marvel is currently dominating the competition at the worldwide box office, the hero who was originally known by that name arrives in theaters in a matter of weeks. We are, of course, referring to Shazam!, and Warner Bros. has today released a gallery of hi-res images from the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation.

Some of these have previously been seen online after being scanned from magazines, but there are plenty of awesome shots here, including Billy Batson's super-powered alter ego squaring off with the villainous Dr. Sivana and sharing some Coca-Cola with Freddy Freeman (in some admittedly blatant product placement akin to Dr. Pepper's appearance in Thor).

Early box office projections for Shazam! have been on the low side but that should change in the next few weeks as the studio starts pushing a movie which has so far had a relatively quiet marketing campaign. Does that mean we'll get another trailer? At this point it's hard to say, but it wouldn't hurt.

In the meantime, check out these images by hitting the "View List" button down below.

@MusaTariq25 - I agree. I don’t even mind the bulky upper body anymore.

How many movies in do we get before addressing DC's villain problem? It happened with Marvel and they sort of course-corrected and have put out some top-shelf villain portrayals in the last few years IMO.

I'm looking back tho, so far we've got:

1.) Zod (Michael Shannon is awesome in anything.)
2.) Lex Luthor/Doomsday (Terrible. Not changing my mind on this one.)
3.) Enchantress/Joker/Incubus(???) (Awful. Actually embarassing because everyone were
villains and most of the protagonist villains were also unlikable and dumb.)
4.) Ludendorf/Doctor Poison/Ares (Cool concept/twist, poorly executed/CGI-heavy
finale. Dr. Poison/General felt like Rocky & Bulwinkle villains.)
5.) Steppenwolf (Actually took me 30 whole seconds to remember his name. Enough said.)
6.) Ocean Master (Pretty good. Not as much there for me as others have praised, but
definitely an improvement, Wilson did a good job with what was given to him.
Black Manta got forgotten about for me now that the movie's a few months old.)

Basically, they've got their own problems with some of their heroes, but I never stopped and noticed they really don't have too many strong villains. I hope Mark Strong shakes that up, I guess I just want to see Black Adam first, but Sivana looks to be hammy like Blanchett's Hela in Ragnarok so hopefully it's enough to elevate the role and make it memorable as she was just barely able to.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - The praise DC got for their villains really only came from Nicholson's Joker, Pfieffer's Catwoman, Nolan's Dark Knight villains, and maybe DeVito's Penguin, the rest have been really camp or spoken about more in terms of how well they are written in the comicbooks.
