Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently shooting in Canada, and we now have another round of set photos. These aren't quite as high-quality as the last batch, but they do feature actor Zachary Levi wearing the cape that was missing in the previous shots.
Just like the costume itself no longer looks part-inflatable, the cape has undergone a change since 2019's Shazam! Now, it appears to be longer and is more traditional in appearance (like Superman's, for example). As great as it was to see the first movie stick to the source material, that cape looked beyond goofy, and this version - like the suit itself - is a significant improvement.
If that murky teaser video was any indication, it could be a while before anything massively revealing is shared from Shazam! Fury of the Gods, though a trailer being released during October's DC FanDome has to be a dead cert at this stage.
Regardless, with cameras rolling, we're fully expecting to see more set photos in the coming weeks.
Alongside the first movie's returning cast members, this sequel will add Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso, and West Side Story's Rachel Zegler to the DC Extended Universe. As noted, David F. Sandberg is stepping back into the director's chair, while the release date for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been set for June 2, 2023.
