CAPTAIN MARVEL Star Says Losing "Motherfu*king Pornstar" Spider-Man Would Have Been Disastrous For The MCU

Fans were pleased to hear the recent news that, for the time being at least, Spider-Man would be staying put in the MCU, and Captain Marvel's Ben Mendelsohn has also expressed relief in his own unique way.

The news that Tom Holland's Spider-Man would remain a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for at least a few more movies was met with joy and relief by fans of the Wall-Crawler, but it seems some far more closely associated with the shared world were just as happy to hear that the Webhead would be sticking around.

While speaking to Metro, Captain Marvel star Ben Mendelsohn was asked about the Sony/Disney dispute which almost put an end to Spidey's adventures in the MCU, and he believes losing the hero would have been "a disaster."

“I think what happens in these things is, most of the time, cooler heads prevail,” said the actor, before adding: “But shit man. You can’t lose Spider-Man from the Marvel universe. He’s one of their absolute mother[frick]ing pornstars. Boy, I could name 30 that you could quite comfortably lose before you start thinking about losing Spider-Man. In fact, I cannot think of a single character who’s more important to Marvel than Spider-Man. You’ve got Hulk, you’ve got Thor…none of them are as important as Spider-Man. None of them.”

Well, he's not wrong! Spider-Man is inarguably the most recognisable and iconic Marvel Comics superhero, and while Holland's depiction is not to everyone's tastes, not having some iteration of the character in the MCU would feel like a major loss. The movies did fine without him before the initial deal between Marvel and Sony was made, of course, but now that he's a part of this universe it'd be a massive shame to see him part ways.

What do you guys make of Mendelsohn's comments? Sound off down below.

In b4 everyone defends the exciting additions coming to the MCU from the Fox-merger along with all of their other projects and smaller ventures coming in Phase 4. BUT, if I'm being honest, as a giant Spidey fan, I really would've soured at least on the way the MCU is managing their catalog. I really didn't like the casual talk from Feige about knowing this wasn't forever and just letting it all fall apart right after Far From Home. IMO, Spider-Man isn't absolutely needed for the MCU to succeed after Endgame, but boy does it keep me more excited than I would be without him.

They did the right thing in the end, but they should be fighting for Spider-Man. He's not a corporate experiment or a throwaway character. I dont believe either company was being genuine in their media interviews, but they would be stupid to not realize how inherently Marvel Spider-Man is and that losing him after all of this effort with Tom Holland would have left a pretty sour taste in fans and general audiences' mouths.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I think Feige's knew they were still negotiating and had to act that way but it's just a guess.
