I love Spider-Man and he has been one of my favorite superheroes as a kid. I grew up on the 90s animated series and I liked The Spectacular Spider-Man series those are my favorite versions of Spider-Man. I'm excited to see Tom Holland's portrayal in Captain America: Civil War and from what I've been hearing Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man yet. Today I'm going back and ranking the old Spider-Man movies from worst to best.

5. Spider-Man 3
Now I'm not the biggest fan of Spider-Man 3, there are so many things wrong with this movie, and it's one of the most disappointing films I've ever seen. It's not a terrible movie because I enjoyed parts of this movie such as the birth of Sandman, the score by Christopher Young, Peter in the church tower ripping the symbiote off him, J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Bruce Campbell's cameo in the French restaurant was funny, Black Suit Spider-Man vs. Sandman in the subway, the fist fight between Harry and Peter, the moment when Peter and Harry team up, and the moment when Harry dies was really emotional. There are also parts I hate as well such as Peter/Mary Jane/Harry/Gwen Stacy/Eddie Brock love triangle, Harry becoming the New Goblin and his memory loss, the lazy introduction to the symbiote, the drama with Mary Jane's acting career and being fired from her play, Peter being obviously to everything around him, everything involving Emo Peter Parker as well as the dancing, Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer, and they waste Venom putting him in the movie for 10 minutes. Sony literally put their hands in the cookie jar too much and they did it again with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I don't hate this movie but it's not good and I understand why anyone would hate it because there is so much wrong with this movie.
4. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
It's better than Spider-Man 3 for sure but that's not really saying much. There are so many problems with this movie and once again Sony put their hands where they didn't need to put. Too many villains, trying to set up a Sinister Six movie, and not caring about making a good movie. First let me start off with positive. For example, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man is great, his chemistry with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy was good, Dane DeHaan as Harry Obsorn (Keep that in mind) was good, Electro was cool looking, the action is entertaining, I love Spider-Man's suit, and the death of Gwen Stacey was an emotional scene and they translated her death from the comics really well. That being said there are things I hate as well. For example, Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, the German doctor in the movie, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillion/Electro having a Jim Carrey Riddler from Batman Forever approach, Dane DeHaan with face herpes, Green Goblin being shoehorned into the end of the movie, the fact that they cut so much out of the movie that was in the trailers, that they revealed way too much, the fact that they webbed too many plot threads together (no pun intended), and as much as I love Hans Zimmer I did not like his score for this movie. I'm glad Spider-Man is being rebooted into the MCU and I can't wait to see him in Captain America: Civil War.
3. The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man is enjoyable to say the least and there are good things in this movie. For example, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man (I even think he is better than Tobey Maguire), his chemistry with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy (I think he and Emma Stone actually have better chemistry than Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst), Sally Field and Martin Sheen as Aunt May and Uncle Ben, Denis Leary as Captain Stacy, and the school fight scene with the Lizard. The complaints I have are the fact that they told the origin story again, the Lizard in the movie and his motives, and the fact that they cut so much stuff out of the movie and lied to us saying it was the untold story and they showed nothing new. I didn't think it was the reboot we needed at the time so I'm hoping the Spider-Man reboot coming out next year is better and I trust Marvel Studios is going to help Sony out.
2. Spider-Man
Now as a kid when I watched this movie for the first time I freaking loved it and it was the first comic book movie to actually break box office records. Watching it recenty it does feel a bit dated and cheesy at times and the Green Goblin's suit looks like a Power Ranger (although I like it more than Dane DeHaan with face herpes and Chris Stuckmann agrees with me on that one) but I enjoy it quite a lot even though it has its flaws. Being a fan of Sam Raimi and his Evil Dead movies I think he did a great job directing this movie especially considering he is a fan of the character. Tobey Maguire does a pretty good job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Willem Dafoe was great as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, James does a good job as Harry Osborn, Rosemary Harris and Cliff Robertson as Aunt May and Uncle Ben are great, J.K. Simmons is perfect as J. Jonah Jameson and I can't wait to see him as Commissioner Gordon, Danny Elfman's score is iconic, they told the origin story really well, and the action is thoroughly entertaining. I'm fine with the organic web shooters because I think it makes more sense than a high school student creating web shooters. The only performance I have a complaint with is Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson (I didn't think she was bad but I didn't think she was the best fit) and her chemistry with Maguire felt a bit Twilight-ish at times. Most of the scenes were a bit dated and cheesy at times. Also, the Green Goblin suit looked Power Ranger-ish. Despite those complaints I like this movie a lot even though it seems dated at times.
1. Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man is obviously my favorite Spider-Man movie and it is one of the best superhero movies. The action and special effects are even better than it they were in the first Spider-Man movie. The train fight between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus is one of the best action sequences I've seen in any superhero movie. Alfred Molina as Doc Ock is perfect and I really sympathized with his character. I felt sympathy for Peter Parker because of his struggle in this movie dealing with being Spider-Man, Harry wanting to kill Spider-Man, him wanting to be with Mary Jane and she is getting married, and conflict with Aunt May and having to deal with telling Aunt May he was responsible for Uncle Ben's death. Everyone else once again does a good job in their roles save for Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson who was a bit too harsh on Peter at times. Despite that one complaint I had I still love this movie, it's definitely my favorite Spider-Man movie by far, and it still holds up 12 years later.

Anways that's my rankings for all the Spider-Man movies so let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

I don't think any CBM from before 2005 has held up well at all, that I've rewatched.

@kong - I can undestand why you'd think that way.

Spider-Man 2 will always be in my top 2 cbms. Nothing will take its place (I just won't allow anything to lol). Can't wait to see the new Spidey, they're saying he's the best.

I would switch SM 3 and TASM 2 though. Even though they were both really bad, SM 3 still had a lot of great scenes (Spider-Man vs. Sandman, Removing the Black suit, All the Aunt May scenes). TASM 2 had nothing except for Gwen's death which was pretty emotional.

Though because SM 3 was such a disappointment, I can see why it's last on the list. I don't think anyone was expecting TASM 2 to be sensational.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - agreed. I also felt like SM3 had better CGI and better aesthetic than the ugly night scenes of TASM movies.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - people give it too much shit for emo Peter Parker dance when Garfield is embarrassing as Shia LaBeouf the whole time

I don't really think a superhero movie prier to iron man/TDK have really stood the test of time with the exception of batman begins obviously.

@GinjaNinja - idk I rewatch and I might include batman begins in that last that hasn't aged well

@GinjaNinja - I'd rather watch Donner Supes movies than crap like Man of Steel. And Batman 1989 is one of my favorite CBMs, although I'll admit Batman returns made me sick. And I really love Raimi Spider-Man movies and Singer's X men movies

I rewatched Amazing Spiderman and its worse than I remember. and Andrew Garfield is overrated as [frick]. Guy was doing a poor man's Shia LeBoof impression the whole movie. The whole Oscorp conspiracy was just boring and never went anywhere, nor did the hunt for Uncle Ben's killer. Lizard also sucked and his transformation was rushed. Gwen and her dad were really the only parts I liked. I'd rate it a 2/5

TASM 2 definitely had my favorite portrayal of Spidey. And the chemistry between Peter and Gwen as outstanding.

But the rest was mediocre. I'd say TASM or SM2 are my favorites.

This list seems pretty fair, I'd personally switch Spider-Man 2 and Amazing Spider-Man for my own but I can respect this, and it's cool that while you're expressing your disappointment with TASM2 you're not going over the top and saying it's the worst CBM ever, acknowledging that there are worse ones and that it's not even the worst Spidey movie.
