Artist Josh Herman, who is primarily known for his work on Guardians of The Galaxy volumes 1 and 2 was one of the people tasked with working on Spider-Man for Captain America:Civil War. Just recently he shared some of his work to the public, giving us a closer look at what Tom Holland wore on the set of Civil War, which was then switched to the design we've seen in the final product.

Here's what he had to say about the piece.

"I never, ever thought that I would be able to work on Spider-Man while I was working at Marvel. But somehow the deal came through and I got the chance to work closely with Ryan Meinerding on the first pass of Spidey's suit for Civil War. You can see that it's different than his final costume, but it was still a blast to work on."

it's just missing a couple of black lines on the shoulders and arms, and the spider symbol is different. other than that, it's pretty much the same

That looks so much like an ALex Ross painting it's insane.

Still like what we got tho, the more strong reds and blues fit the tone of Homecoming a lot more.

This suit would be perfect if it didn't have all those stupid added strips running through it, the real CW/HC suit is even worse because they added those big black rubber bands on the shoulders and forearms and also thickened the strips on the torso.
What angers me most is that with the classic lenses, color, back spider, and the nonraised webbing, this could be the best-looking and most comic-accurate suit yet, but until they remove all those weird rubber strips/bands, the Raimi and TAS2 suit will still be better.

The pointed shape of this suit is better that the rounded shape in the homecoming one, the eyes look like Alex Ross' too

Great design. I really like that they changed over to recessed webbing and cleaned up the boot lines from this concept.

It's the same design they used for the marvel legend 3 pack.

Way better than the final suit. Ripped straight out of the Romita Sr. comics. Love the classic symbol

The BTS one puts both the CGI Civil War version and the Homecoming one to shame.
